"My FS9 has never looked so good. Now, if only I can get asystem to run it well.:-("EXACTLY! I have actually stopped using FS9 for awhile and will see what the next version brings, just tired of all the tweaking I have to do to get it to run decently, even after a vid card upgrade (850XT). Funny thing is, I haven't played any other video games/sims in awhile and recently got Pacific Fighters and battlefield 2, both run smooth as silk and look so much better than FS9 on high.My "must haves" in the sim are Active camera, Misty Fjords, Holgers CRG scenery, ASV, all Georender and my VA scenery (Where I fly the most), FSGenisis mesh, Aerosoft beaver, F1 421, and the Aeroworx B200I would say UT, both Alaska and USA, but I got tired of tweaking it and uninstalled.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International

Lately, these have kept my interest:ActiveSky VUltimate Terrain (USA + Canada)FSEconomy (for breathing new life into the sim)-these 3 above have done wonders for us GA flyers. And my classics which never seem to go out of styleFSD Piper Seneca V (waiting patiently for the Cessna 337)Dreamfleet Archer III have lots of others, but these are the ones that get the most use on my system.

I would like to name around 15 (including a few freeware) but that we be silly:-) So i name two:1)FS-force2)Lvld767Dan

I hear you Mike. Its frustrating that cutting-edge hardware that is more than two years ahead of the sim can be brought to its knees with FS9 + add-ons.I'm now looking forward to the next version, if it'll ever be released before I'm old. But I fear that all my add-ons that I've invested in will become useless. If they do revamp the whole engine, my feelings are bittersweet. On the one hand it would great from an eye-candy/performance point of view, but then we'll have to re-invest in add-ons from start.

I don't mean to hijack this thread. Just a quick reply to Dan.I honestly don't think the next version would continue this process but really who knows? The reason I say that is because quite a few experienced users (possibly affiliated with MS) on airliners.net forums suggested that the number one complaint/suggestion received by MS is the lack of (graphical) fluidity.I think that they would rewrite the engine from the ground up which, like I said in my previous post, is bittersweet. But really, its anyone's guess and nobody knows anything until they officially announce something. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

"Wouldn't the next version just continue this process though? That's why it would be good to hear something from MS at theupcoming conference, even if it just a little info as to theirdevelopment plans e.g going console, or concentrating onvisuals etc."Dan, who knows. I would hope that with current (even current, none public) technology things can be improved. Seeing what is possible in other games/sims, it makes you realise how much better it can look and possibly be. For instance, the water, waves and beachs in Pacific Fighters are light years ahead of FS visually, I could fly all day around the caribbean in MSFS if it looked like it does (and performs)in PF. I dare say it could have something to do with the difference between OpenGL and DirectX programming.I have done experiments with a default setup of FS and weather and there are times it still drops in the single digits, unacceptable to me when my rig has specs that were not out at the time the sim was released. Here's to hoping! :-beerchugRegards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International
