Paul, come on over ... I'd love to show folks how 30hz/30 fps Vsync is not only acceptable, but a positively good way to flight sim (yes even with TrackIR).

I would but I think your a long way from Iowa.

I'd recommend the PMDG 737 NGX myself ... but that's because I have never been able to figure out how to manually fly the PMDG 777 ... there always seems to be some system that kicks in regardless of how much I disable and tell it to "leave me alone I know what I'm doing".

 

The NGX is my favorite as well. But in regards to the 777, if you want the electronic nannies turned off, find the "Primary Flight Computer" switch on the overhead panel and move it to the disconnect position. After that, she's all yours. Don't know if that's "normal operating procedure", "standard airline practice", yada, yada, yada, etc.  

This might be a trite question but does either have variable lighting controls? I am used to the FF 757 in X-Plane where all the lighting is variable and every light switch and knob works per real plane.

The sad answer is no, however....with FS labs Spotlights app, you can add custom lights to ANY of your aircraft!  Look at the shots below...I played with it for about an hour and made these custom lights for the Bus....

 

 

Three is also a community effort to create light configs for all existing aircraft, in case you don't want to do them yourself (or you can start with theirs and customize it to your taste.)

 

This has absolutely transformed my night flying experience, and I won't take any plane up at night without custom lights again. :smile:

But yeah, variable intensity back lighting isn't in the Bus (you can adjust the MFDs/PFDs) ... PMDG and Q400 have it ... wonder if the up coming CRJ will have it?

That was a small disappointment with the Airbus in that the main lights were not variable. The 757 I have for X-Plane has all the lights, gauges, and two types of back lighting all variable. It takes me several minutes just to get all the lights looking the way I want but I really enjoy that type of immersion.

No problem. The PFC is mentioned somewhere in the manual, but not in much detail. I learned about the PFCs when looking for info on the FBW systems. These articles below were pretty interesting and a little bit more contextual and informative than the cut and dry stuff in the FCOM. It amazes me that PMDG modeled all these systems in detail. That's the benefit I think of these detailed sim aircraft. It's not the initial hurdle of learning how to take your first flight, but the long term benefits of discovering it nuances. Even after months or even years of flying them, you can still be learning things about how they work, and make new observations based on that knowledge inside the sim. It's a fascinating experience.

No, unfortunately it won't as they have stated somewhere in the 200+ pages preview thread over at the Aerosoft forum.

It's kinda' addictive to create your own lighting for any aircraft in your fleet.

I'm not worried about the CRJ without variable lighting, I'll make my own.  :wink:

Took a look at FS Labs web site, no mention of V3 (or V2.x) support sadly ... couldn't find a thread about P3D support at all.  Is the developer Ok with using it for P3D?

Amazing how this thread gets woven in many different colors but now back to the Bus. I am getting the hang of it and have now made a couple successful flights with the copilot's help.

 

I am loving it in PD3 V3. That little banner the comes across the top screen telling me when to start decent and approach and the copilot doing the flaps and other little things while I try to keep that whale heading towards the runway,,,,it's great !

 

I am now thinking of getting the NX or maybe I should wait for the Queen to arrive.

That's the spirit Paul!  Both is best I say, they are both great planes to fly.

The co-pilot feature really helped me get over the learning curve and I thoroughly enjoy flying the Bus now.

 

The more you fly it the more I think you're gonna like it.  

Really looking forward to their A330 so I can do some long haul. I know there is an actual Air Canada flight that takes a 318 (or 319) across the Atlantic, but the 330 is much better suited for that.  :smile:
