Lone cloud when weather is clear

Featured Replies

Hey guys, just wondered if anyone knew the cause of this or has a solution.. been scratching my head over this for a little while. It looks like a pretty nice cloud actually, 3D as well..http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/125361.jpgThis is at Mark Smith's KPWT, its pretty much been my default airport.. its good flying distance to Emma Field and the Georenders :)However I started noticing this lone cloud. I've been using Active Sky 4.5 and so most of the flights have had clouds so I may not have noticed it. One day I load up KPWT looks like excellent flying weather.. then I see the lone cloud. I have FS Skyworld 2004 installed as well, I've ran with and without Active Sky running and it doesn't seem to change.. even uninstalled it. The cloud only appears at this airport.Hopefully some kind soul has an idea, I may be missing something there.. thanks for any help :)

Strange. Does it stay after using FSUIPC "Clear all weather" option?Keith

Check with the developer, is it a thermal marker for soaring guys? I have seen that in a few sceneries.Hornit

Hi.I think I read once a problem which was similar to yours. If I recall it was something to do with 3rd party thermal addons for scenery. Do you have anything like that installed at any of your 3rd party airports.Sorry if it sounds abit vague but thats all I can remember.(edit) I see Hornit just literally posted a minute before me so its good to know I was on the right path also.Craig

I've redownloaded the scenery and read the documents for it.. doesn't mention anything about thermals. Deactivating it however removes the cloud.. I'll email the author. :)Edit: Well, I can't find his email address (Mark Smith) in any of his files and his msscenery.com website I believe isn't running anymore.. unless somebody knows of his email address then I'm a little stuck.

Actually this cloud belongs to the Emma Field scenery and depicts a thermal for the gliders. I cannot remember exactly but when you deactivate the Thermals the cloud should be gone.Alex

I think that's the little white cloud that cried...and if you can recognize that reference you know the difference between Johnny Ray and Ray Charles...:-)Sherm

Why are you looking for a solution? It's wonderful.RegardsIan(William Wordsworth fan club)

I'll have a look into Emma, thanks :) Its a little odd seeing one little cloud when its totally cloud less for hundreds of miles around! Plus I never fly gliders so I don't really need a thermal marker ;)

No problem. It happens in real life. It could be clear skies all around except for a one lone cumulus. Just saw it today, as real as it gets...Kev

Thanks very much Alex (gasebah) it appears you were right, they appear to belong to Emma Field. Didn't expect them giving you a thermal this far out.. but anyway. Thanks all for the help :)
