Titles are ust that, titles. the key is who he reports to and who that person reports to .... How many levels below Bill? ;-)Regards,BobShttp://s95171098.onlinehome.us/junk/aopa.jpgSeems the rage to talk about the "size and speed" of each others computer. Beat this if you can for solving novel/unique problem anywhere in the cosmos. ..Have K&E and know how to use it!

You guys make it sound like FS9 is backward compatible, but to be honest most addons are not compatible without some form of modification. I'm all for the future of FS, but after handing out a small fortune for the current addons I have. I'm not that ethusiastic about buying all the new current addons again just be compatible with FSXX

Correct. PM = Program Manager. In this case Lead Program Manager--responsbile for oversight of the whole project--at least that's what the blog now says. And, if you know anything about how MSFT works you'll know the org chart and who you report to doesn't account for much.

Well, at IFC Blackpool, MS people there explained the parts related to gaming at Microsoft are modeling themselves a little bit like Movie Studios in relationship with the Majors. Of course, they all belong to MS, but they also have a lot of indipendence, with their budgets, goals, etc.FS team is the Aces Studios, BTW.

Hmmm. Yes, I had heard that.

da, I wonder who SteveLa is with one posting to his account explaining the term "PM== (equal) Program Manager"? I read you blog and Mikes everday. In fact I have put both of you in my 'Links" folder so your sites appear in the tittle bar of Iex. Had to shorten them to LW & SL. ;-)Oh, like I said above, after the very first blog entry by The Little Wheel I knew the name. You gave a link to the accident report on the airplane you sold and it had an the "N" number. ;-)Comspiracy? I don't see the connection. Knowning the level the utterance is from just adds value to the statement. I take the blog to be real utterance from an employee of MS who works in the FS division. Thus, if you say all the cds are being replaced, I will start checking my mailbox everyday and if my doesn't arrive, I will say that MicroSoft said I was getting a new one. You are the word of MicroSoft in your blog.Regards,BobShttp://s95171098.onlinehome.us/junk/aopa.jpgSeems the rage to talk about the "size and speed" of each others computer. This post began a week ago had has attracted 230 votes now.I doubt MS will pay much attention to these in its wider view of FS10.

It was not my intention to bring this to Microsoft's attention per se, just to see how us hard-core users feel about it.

One of the days you guys will believe me when I tell you that the MSFS team watches these topics almost daily...LOL.I guess you'll just have to see for yourselves.

The MSFS might watch these topics but what weight will they place on the views of less than 1% of the AVSIM membership when considering the market they're going to be targetting?

Gerry Howard

Quite a bit, actually. Despite the small number of people who actually answered the poll, the results (along with forum posts) gives a great indication of what this market segment wants. Of course, this information is considered in context with the overall distribution of customers but it is important nonetheless. That's why so many people on the team spend so much time read this (and other) web forums.

Yes, but how big is THIS market segment? How much time does the MSFS team spend reading these forums?

Gerry Howard

While I would like backwards compatibility (that was a great part of the death of CFS3 and then the CFS series entirely) I would be willing to give up my old planes for large advances in things like autogen (would like to see vehicles, fences, supermarkets, etc) and a way to run the cool water effects without bringing a PC to it's knees...they should try to look at some of the code of Battlefield 2 for some options...
