P3d v3 upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hi all if I upgrade from 2.5 to v3. Will I have to re-install my add ons one by one. such as orbx sceneries and my pmdg 737 and Rex etc

Is v3 worth splashing out on?

It's a personal opinion, but I defintely think that V3 is worth the price. And yes I suspect you will have  to reinstall your addons. And some you will need to get V3 installers.. But take a look at the many topics that have already been posted on Avsim about upgrading to V3.

My system specs: Intel i9-10850@3.6 - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB  DDR4  RAMNoctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel     Sims: MSFS2020      Preferred Aircraft  Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049

You must uninstall 2.5 first otherwise you will get loads of errors.

P3Dv3 has better VAS and FPS, for starts, so that's deferentially a nice bonus. Because v3 wants addons installed outside the root folder, you can link folders from v2 to v3 with the .cfg files, but some addons, like ORBX and PMDG need to be installed in P3Dv3, with updated installers.

I've got quite some aircraft and scenery installed in v2, that also appear in v3.

Cheers!

Not true, I didn't uninstall 2.5 and in fact still have it, and zero errors installing V3.

Cheers guys. Only reason I asked Wether it was worth it, was i saw a video of a well known u tube person comparing v3 to v2.5 and he did not really get any improvement on VAS and FPS it did utilise his GPU more and that was about it. Which I thought was very dissapointing.

Love V3,  the HDR settings for me was worth it alone,  and sure you have your little avatar man as well

Yes, being able to adjust the HDR settings is a great feature.
