September 1, 200520 yr I just want to say, that the Level-D sim is amazing, buy it. It has, by far, the best VC i have ever seen, and the realism is astounding. The smaller touches add great realism and you'll be suprised when you get warnings that you shouldn't push back without disconnecting external power..ooops.
September 1, 200520 yr Try the PMDG 747-400, I'm not about to flame the LVD, I own it also and it's a great aircraft and gets a lot of hours on my sim, but the 747-400 VC has intoduced new features never see in FS. It has a number of differant lighting option, all the seats are adjustable and it's alot smoother on my system.IMHO.Dave FisherCYYZP4 Prescott 3.2e 478p 800mhz 1mg CPUP4P800S Asus Motherboard1.0 gig PC3200 DDR RAM 400MHZGeforce Ti 4200/128Maxtor 40 Gig ATA 133 HD x2WDC WD800 80 Gig HDhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpg
September 1, 200520 yr I second the Level D opinion. I admire the PMDG 747 a lot, but I'm still smarting that I spent $55 and didn't get wing views.Level D just simply came with everything.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
September 1, 200520 yr >and it's alot smoother on my system.IMHO.Agreed. PMDG744 - The very first airliner in FS9 with absolutely smooth gauges in VC. To me smooth gauges are top priority since this is the most glaring item that separates cheap games from multi-million $ commercial simulators.Michael J. Michael J.
September 1, 200520 yr It always annoys me that LDS doesn't even take full advantage of traditional VC techniques and uses popups for the CDUs and radios. Not that it is a big deal, it is still one of the two or three best airliners.-
September 1, 200520 yr > To me smooth gauges are top>priority since this is the most glaring item that separates>cheap games from multi-million $ commercial simulators.>>Michael J.>Yet somehow every other sim that has VCs (LOMAC, IL2 etc.) has smooth gauges by default. -
September 1, 200520 yr Level-D sim is by far the most balanced (in terms of what you get for your money), most realistic, fun to use add on for flight sim. Can't wait to see what service pack 2 brings.Pyjamas
September 1, 200520 yr I am surprised by someone who demands wingviews and seconds realism and simulation functionality and performance...I love the LVD! I have around 100 hours in it! But my favorite aircraft is the B744, and although the 67 always has a place in my heart, I really only fly the B744...I think guys that what it comes down to, is the aircraft it self. Both FS9 aircraft were done superbly! I mean it!Thus having to compare the two, is like comparing the real aircraft... The two are not the same type or even from the same year, they are different and act and fly and function differently! The FMC in the 67 is not as new as the one the B744 has... So I reckon that when a (GOOD)777 is released some will argue about that being better... I am not sure...But the B744 I think has more in it, that you don't really see, the sense and feel of the systems and behavior of the aircraft just feels SO real!Boaz...
September 1, 200520 yr LevelD is terrific, however, the VC gauge update rates are very poor on my system. It is one of the smoothest 2d aircraft I own. Claiming the LDS is by far the best is a bit of a stretch if you prefer flying 747's. :)Bob... Bob Prince
September 1, 200520 yr I never liked the 767...I always thought it was fat and a little stubby (before the -400). My mind was changed, however, when I bit the bullet and purchased the Level-D 767. I was changed forever, though when I got the chance to fly on Continental's 767-200 and -400, and I got the chance to visit the flight deck. Now, impressed is not even the word; someone must be doing something right,IMHO, if I can visit the real flight deck and can recognize every instrument, button and toggle switch. Great job Level-D!!!
September 1, 200520 yr It's going to be very interesting to see what Feelthere's 737/3/4/5 will bring to the table of realism and "favorites."
September 1, 200520 yr Author Bob,After LevelD SP1, VC gauge refresh rates are much better. Make sure you use the high definition option in the config manager. I have to agree with Michael J, the smoothness of the gauges in the 744 is second to none. Now who was saying that there was a limitation in the FS engine regarding VC gauge smoothness ??? :)Take careJohn.
September 1, 200520 yr The LDS is a fantastic aircraft, but I fly from the VC only, and it annoys me that I am limited in what I can do from the VC of that airplane. Now the PMDG I never have to switch views or pop-up the 2d panel, and the frame rates are about the same for a bigger and more complicated aircraft! So if you have the money, get both!
September 2, 200520 yr I really hate this squaring off of PMDG vs LDS.Both are excellent and in there own ways outstanding for the FS community as tools to look on the other side of the flight deck door.PMDG has the best ever VC.Level D has the best ever FMC.You could go on and on comparing them but at the end of the day for their price the both represent amazing value.DArren
