MilViz Bell 407 in Prepar3D v3 ?

Featured Replies

Anyone has any luck installing this marvelous heli in P3D v3?
The Bell 407 Milviz forum has been quite dead for several months, except for an isolated topic or 2...
As the Avsim community is far more responsive, I would like to ask some fellow users here.

Last installer I got per mail from MilViz was back in FEB2015 for installer version "MilViz Bell-407 P3Dv2 v2.150203 Setup"

Here was I get for evey file that the installer wants to write:

---------------------------
MilViz Bell-407 P3Dv2 v2.150203 Setup
---------------------------
Error opening file for writing:

\Effects\Texture\MV407_fx.bmp

Click Abort to stop the installation,

Retry to try again, or

Ignore to skip this file.

Official word from Milviz last month...

To all users of P3D V3: We are presently working on updating our product range to work with this version. The only products that are not working either properly or at all are the T-38A, the F-4E and possibly the MD530F (all P3D 2.5 versions).

We are working on these as we speak and hopefully will have news on them soon.

They mention nothing of the 407.. ?? I would hop over to the forums, they might have the new installer already and you did not get the email.

Hi,

here is what i did, i copied the B406 and the MD530 to the Rotorcraft folder and the MilViz folder to the v3 root folder. Just to mention i hve the F4 E latest build which supports v3. Maybe that´ll help.

Thx for the replies.

I've contact Kat from MilViz and I was told that it is the latest installer, but that the 407 is not (yet) P3D v3 compatible.

Copying my 407 over from P3D v2 works, but I have no digits on the instruments.

Hi,

i did copy the 407 + the aircraft manager together into v3. For me everything works when the chopper is ready to fly. Havent try a cold and dark startup yet. Digits are all visible sounds working too.

You need to copy everything, not only the folder at Rotorcraft. Gauges, effects, Milviz folder, etc. To know which files to copy, and where they should go, you can read the log produced by the installer.

Without the gauges, for example, you can load the heli and even fly it (if already started), but the gauges will be dead.

I have the MD530 working fine. Don't have the 407, but my guess is that it works too.

Yes I'm aware about that.

But I must be missing a gauge or font since I tried to install the heli at first into v3. After I got several errors from the installer I went to my P3Dv2 folder and copied all that I had from MilViz to P3D v3.

I guess the installer messed things up.

I'll wait for the new installer.

Oh, any chance you can share with me the location of the log file?

Just to come back on this.

I managed to get the 407 work flawlessly in P3Dv3.

The installer could be opened with 7zip and all I had to do was extract the installer into P3D root directory :)

I'm glad it worked!

The log is displayed in a window during install. When finished, before exiting, you can copy everything.

But now you don't need it anymore!

I'm considering adding a feature that will make a copy of the installer's log file and save it to the aircraft's root folder.

To who it may concern...

A new installer is available for download. One that works with Prepar3D v3.

If you didn't get the mail, contact Milviz support.

Received email for 407 2 days ago - downloaded ok and installed ok - one of the lucky ones.

Flying alright at the moment .

I would even buy that type of software Fr Bill - good idea.

All the best
