September 13, 200520 yr Steve, you know what the funny thing is? After all these years we'd finally agreed that Australia could actually take the Ashes home with them.Oh the irony...:-lol Dan

September 14, 200520 yr Yes I can see how this product will have appeal to users who mostly fly VFR in GA aircraft within a particular geographical area. But if most of your flying is between continents at 35000 ft above the cloud layer in your (recently purchased) PMDG 747 or LDS 767 the cost is going to be definite disincentive.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." September 14, 200520 yr It's out fault. We demand close to perfection, and it takes so much time to create these great add-ons. People have to support themselves, and if it costs 12 dollars for one season of textures for each continent, so be it.

We had a wonderful comment on BEV Forum from a fellow High Flyer and he's in agreement with your statement, but add this "BEV will be nice to come home to"... just a thought.By the way...if you can live with the limitations of FS9, the ground below is even quite nice at 35000 ft. And who know, maybe we can convert you to a low and slow sky jock. Happy Flying,StephenDeveloper
September 14, 200520 yr StephenUnfortunately when "you come home" in a 747/767 things are getting pretty busy in the cockpit, so not much chance to admire the scenery. Actually I do enjoy flying low and slow but mostly in Misty Fjords where coastlines look realistic and watercourses follow contours. To me the biggest lack in scenery is not so much texture quality - with accurate landclass the defaults do a reasonable job IMHO - but the poor match between terrain mesh and other features such as roads, railways and watercourses. UT has done a great job in addressing some of these issues so, even though that isn't cheap either, UT Europe and eventually Australia will be a higher priority than BEV for me. But you seem to have an eager band of simmers who see things differently so I'm sure BEV will be a success. I wish you well with it.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." September 14, 200520 yr Hi there Bruce!!! How you doing? (update 3 for FE is aruond the corner LOL)I'm very interested in BEV and buying it myself. I do use Ultimate terrain though to help cross promote our flight one products with screen shots etc; and I really love Ultimate Terrain a lot to enhance my environment; which I'm sure you appreciate I'm well intereseted in. (clouds are of particular importance to me hehe)But seriously; do you know if BEV is going to be fully compatible with UT and what are going to be the advatages/dissadvangtage of this partnership, if any?Apparently they have had 3,000,000 hits on this site!!! so there is something like the whole FS comunity world-wide seeing the site at least once or many pepople seeing it several times. At any rate there is a lot of interest in BEV !!!!
September 14, 200520 yr Hi Peter. You will be pleased to learn that I have finally purchased FE mainly due to what I read in the FlightSim.com review about the user interface. I don't recall seeing this feature getting much publicity before but it makes debates about clouds in FE being better/worse than ASV somewhat beside the point. I also like the way the randomiser feature has been implemented. Anyway at about $26 for all seasons and all continents it wasn't going to break the bank. Been away for the past few days so haven't had much of an opportunity to form a final judgement. Whether BEV will be fully compatible with UT I will have pass on and leave this one for others to comment on. There is ceratinly a lot of interest in BEV but the real time for judgement will be after its release. But for the time being I will be an observer rather than a participant.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." September 14, 200520 yr Thanks Peter for the compliment and any future purchase you may make. To answer you question of compatibility with UT... for those who understand the layering system of FS this will be a snap...but for those who don't let me do a bit of explaining. To simplify things...FS starts out with a mesh, layerd with a texture of water, then a base texture depicting landmasses, with a layer of more detailed texture (which I'll refer to as the default textures) laying on top of all that, then comes along streams, roads, autogen, etc. BEV is a replacement texture for the default textures so you can see that it works exactly like the default textures, only they look better. UT falls along the lines of riversu and roads along with cutting away the land masses to reveal the water texture beneath to depict more accurate shorelines and river placements.So...BEV will interact with UT, or any other addon exactly the way the default texture interacts with UT or any other addon. Bottom line BEV has the exact compatiblitly with addons as the default textures have.Yep, we've been bombarded with visitors and repeat visitor...and for anyone who has any doubts of our number of nearly 3,000,000...here are our website statistic.
September 15, 200520 yr >Yep, we've been bombarded with visitors and repeat>visitor...and for anyone who has any doubts of our number of>nearly 3,000,000...here are our website statistic.the chart shows 12,000 visitors, while there's 3,000,000 hits. You do know hits include all the images and other references you have on a page. Therefore you have a lot of images on every page so you might have 100 hits on a single visit. 10700k / Gigabyte 3060
September 15, 200520 yr Don't forget all but we will also get a free night texture set as well for registered users. Eric
