January 25, 201610 yr Background: flightsimming for years, ever since FS4 on a 386DX. Biggest screen I've had in 24" widescreen. Anyways, what are your thoughts on monitor like this for FSX? Are panels normally able to look correct and not stretched into abnormal looking aspect on such wide displays? Seems like the resolution on this would be easier than a multiple 3 monitor display (easier for a vid card to handle the pixels and still be fast response). Anybody have any tips or advice on buying this as opposed to the total price for some other approach to widescreen display? 99 cent shipping.... Newegg Thanks. Aspect-wise, probably looks like somewhat similar to a couple of 17" 4:3 displays side by side? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824025138&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-Woot%20Services%20%28deals.woot.com%29-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10440897&PID=3668349&SID= 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. January 25, 201610 yr FSX doesn't stretch to fill the sceen, it shows more of the available image. Panels will still look in proportion, you'll just see more of them. A 24" monitor will work fine for FSX - I was happily using a 22" monitor until recently. There are 3 main aspect ratios used in most modern monitors: 16:9 (1920x1080, 2560x1440, 3840x2160), 16:10 (1680x1050, 1920x1200, 2560x1600) and, more recently, 21:9 (2560x1080, 3440x1440). The 21:9 ratio seems to be becoming more popular because it gives almost the equivalent of a multi-monitor setup without the hassle of having to setup all of the separate screens. The LG monitor in your link looks good and FSX apparently works well at the 21:9 aspect ratio. Most recent graphics cards should run this resolution but it would be worth checking before you buy. You'll also need a reasonably fast CPU for this resolution. To see what it would look like with FSX take a look at http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php/topic/10564-bought-this-today/. i7-14700k | Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WIFI | 32GB DDR5 RAM | MSI RTX 4080 Super | WD Black SN850X 1TB & 2TB | Corsair HX1000i ATX3.0 | MSI MAG401QR 40" monitor | Win 11 Pro 64-bit | Meta Quest 3
January 25, 201610 yr Good post Vortex. Interesting Link. I'm thinking myself of picking up a Dell Ultrasharp 34 Inch. From what i can gather from the link you provided the picture will not stretch, it will actually allow you to see More of the Sim, I didn't know that, Very good
January 25, 201610 yr Elaine. a very, very good choice with that Dell Ultrasharp. I don't have a 34" Dell, but do have their 27" Ultrasharp which has cleaned up technical review awards, and it fully justifies those awards. Best monitor buy I made. Rick Almeida

From what i can gather from the link you provided the picture will not stretch, it will actually allow you to see More of the Sim, I didn't know that, Very good The Dell Ultrasharp 34" looks like a great monitor (comprehensive review of it here: https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/dell-u3415w/). It's worth pointing out that some games still don't support the 21:9 ratio - not a problem if you're just using it for FSX/P3D but worth checking if you're not. When I upgraded recently I finally settled on an AOC Q3277PQU - 32", 2560x1440 AMVA panel - a type of IPS but without the backlight bleed problems of some IPS panels. Best of all it only cost me £310! Lower pixel density than the Dell but a big, pin-sharp image with great colours, no noticeable motion blur and a stand that could have been designed for the military! Highly recommended. i7-14700k | Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WIFI | 32GB DDR5 RAM | MSI RTX 4080 Super | WD Black SN850X 1TB & 2TB | Corsair HX1000i ATX3.0 | MSI MAG401QR 40" monitor | Win 11 Pro 64-bit | Meta Quest 3

From what i can gather from the link you provided the picture will not stretch, it will actually allow you to see More of the Sim, I didn't know that, Very good Elaine, I do have the Dell 3415w. It opens up a great deal more of the sim. Took a day to get used to the curve. Don't notice it anymore. There is light bleed in corners when screen is totally black (how often is that the case)? Here is the link to Dell's using the U3415W site: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN295763/en No lag or ghosting. If you experience that, there is a fast mode accessible in the on screen display menu. If you multitask, you can set the monitor to emulate several screens. The increased pixel density also aids with shimmers. I am biased. However the difference between 32 inch 1080p and the Dell is considerable. Good luck. Regards to the OP. Don't think you can go wrong with increased real estate. You may wish to be careful with a larger screen and lower resolution. When I used a 32 inch 1920 x 1080, the display was a bit coarse, given the size of the pixels. Also required more AA processing to combat shimmering. The debate could rage for days. However if 400 is whst you want to spend, perhaps consider a smaller display with the same or higher resolution. For example, here is a Dell UltraSharp 27 inch on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-27-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00P0EQD1Q/ref=pd_cp_147_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0AR9VFV49B890JZXNG1M Good luck. Although some would disagree, when I looked at 27" 2560x1440 monitors, I found that whilst the image was excellent, the text size on the Windows desktop and menus in games was just too small to be comfortable for me. I know that you can change the desktop default text size but you're generally stuck with what you get in games (the Alt menu in FSX, for example). That's why I went for a 32" QHD monitor. I hate to think what the text on a 28" Ultra HD monitor looks like. I would definitely recommend viewing different monitor sizes and resolutions in store (even if they're not the brand you're looking for) to make sure you'll be happy with the text size.
