NO ILS AUTOTUNE AFTER UPDATE

Could someone please confirm that there is NO NEED to reinstall THE WHOLE 777 in order to have the ILS autotune back, but only the correct Nav database?

Correct.

Everyone, repeat after me:

The solution to my problems is not a reinstall.

The solution to my problems is not a reinstall.

The solution to my problems is not a reinstall.

Seriously. I know I say it a lot, but it's true. You all won't believe how many times I hear "I tried to reinstall, but the problem is still here!" Most of the time, reinstalls do nothing for you other than waste your time, and open you up to the possibility that the reinstall causes other problems.

  • Hi, Don   First, a question:  Are you starting directly from the Long Panel State, or are you starting with  your own previously saved flight (that may have been started from the Long Panel State)?

The problem is when I install AIRAC1601 back

The problem still exists

If it is because 1602, then it should be normal when I return to 1601, but the answer is not

Full names - first and last - in the forum, please.

Delete the APT_RWY.dat in the [sim folder] > PMDG > NAVDATA folder. It will rebuild with the updated navdata on the next sim run.

I have tried this method as well

Same problem, showing PARK at NAVRAD page

But I will try again, hopefully return normal

Or I should wait 1603?

Same problem, showing PARK at NAVRAD page

All airports or just a couple? If it's random, have you updated the scenery at those airports? If not, keep in mind that the default airport data is over a decade old now.

I have tried in VHHH mostly, but also try ROAH

From your suggestion, base on 1601 or 1602?

Thanks

Doesn't matter if it's 1602 or 1601. If the sim data doesn't match your Navigraph data, then the 777 isn't going to pick up the signal. In other words, if the sim is broadcasting on 110.1, but the nav data is telling it to watch for 111.3, then it'll never pick it up.

Copy, I will try at other airport

Because I try it on 737 and 777

The 737 giving me the wrong freq on that ILS

So I expect there are some fault on 1602

Thanks

On the INIT REF > APPROACH REF page? If so, that's your nav data. By "wrong" do you mean "not matching a current chart" or what?

For 737, at the INIT REF page, the ILS given from it was not match the current freq

For 777, I just tried on other airport, still showing PARK in NAVRAD page for ILS

Thanks

Be as specific as possible. I'd asked what you were comparing everything to, in order to figure out what "current" was. That is incredibly important information.

"For 737, at the INIT REF page, the ILS given from it was not match the current freq"

-The 737 doesn't auto-tune, so you will need to manually select the value on the INIT REF page on the radio panel.

-What are you using to identify the data as "current?" A real world chart? The sim's map?

"For 777, I just tried on other airport, still showing PARK in NAVRAD page for ILS"

-It parks the freq until it starts picking it up, I believe, so if your sim isn't using the real world freq, then it won't ever take it out of the parking lot.

Kyle Rodgers

I deleted the ARPT_RWY.dat file, but it still doesn't work, the ILS is not tuned and PARK is shown all the time. I rolled back to 1601 and it works.

When you roll back to 1601, have you delete the APRT_RWY.dat and let it create a ew one?

Thanks

For 737, an example, for rwy 07L at VHHH, the correct freq is 111.10 CRS 073

But at REF page, it is showing 110.90 CRS253 which is the opposite freq for rwy 25R indeed

I have tried another rwy 07R, the same case happen

This problem never happen before

For 777, no matter I try VHHH or other airport else where, PARK all the time in NAV page

Yes, but I had a backup of the 1601 APRT_RWY.dat as well, so I replaced all the files in the Navdata folder.

Thanks, my 777 and 737 all return normal after roll back to 1601 and delete the ARPT_RWY

Thanks for all yours suggestion
