Heck if they write the server that connects with their products and the documentation, I'll write the ATC client. Also, this would be a drop in the bucket compared to the amazing stuff that they already do.

And how much do you reckon that will cost to maintain?

guys in a concept vatsim does that especially at high volume airports such as jfk when they get busy the will send you a pre clearance message via vpilot from the control just not on the fms its self so really whats the difference between what they already do what we are talking about just sayin

As I understand, the new VATSIM client under development called "Swift" will include CPDLC, among with many other enhancements.

Just to be clear, the last three comments regarding predeparture clearances are all correct. Unfortunately, a pilot-side receiver is only part of the puzzle. None of the VATSIM ATC clients has a PDC interface other than text messages as reported by staffguy12. These are used by VATSIM ZNY and others, all to good effect.

However, attempts to provide a realistic visual interface from the pilot side are made challenging by limitations in existing server technology. Perhaps SWIFT will provide us with an answer. ZNY had a slick web-based PDC operational for a while, but those limitations eventually led to a decision to shut it down. It was controller work-intensive and required duplicate entries by controllers, as well as an open browser window on the pilot side, which isn't always available.

Browser based, or so it seems. Since I'm not affiliated with IVAO, that's all I can offer. Text messaging is already available via pilot and controller clients, so that's not new. No doubt the formatting is better/more realistic. Perhaps this provides a link to the data in the servers. It would be interesting to know if there's an interface to existing pilot and ATC clients.
