October 10, 200520 yr Landings with TrackIR from the virtual cockpit feel much more real than a 2D panel landing, here's a video I did today landing in Miami:http://cgi-bin.simradar.com/video_delivery.../miami_land.asx
October 11, 200520 yr nice video, very nice indeed. I could not get framerate smoothness like that if I tweaked every single thing on my 'puter.BTW: question: How do you know that your taxing to fast?answer: the gate director throws his arms up in fear! CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
October 11, 200520 yr Dude! What kind of computer do you have? How do you get those kind of smooth frames? Also, I'm not sure I understand what track IR really does, because if you look to the left or right or up or down, you're still looking away from your monitor, am I missing something?Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
October 11, 200520 yr As far as I know (I dont own it so dont shoot me) is that micro movments translate into much larger movments in the sim. AKA if you move your head say 1 degree to the right it will move 5 in the sim, 10:30 etc. I am sure all these are adjustable.Cheers
October 11, 200520 yr The best way to describe TIR is to say that when you start flying with it, the transformation of the experience will be similar to the difference experienced when one goes from flying with a joystick after using a keyboard. It really makes the flying experience "real"... Especially with the TIR 3 that contains the zoom axis... Having trouble reading the dials or gauges in the VC? No problem, just lean forward like in real life to get a close up view of the dials... Or look "around" the control yoke to see the instruments...It's a great device...
October 11, 200520 yr Author Actually it's an old computer! Athlon FX-53 and NVIDIA GEForce 6800 Ultra. However, this was custom built by a company who specializes in High performance gaming PC's (specially for flight simulation)the company is called OverdrivePC.Here are some more videos:http://cgi-bin.simradar.com/video_delivery.../wmvcapture.asxhttp://cgi-bin.simradar.com/video_delivery...767surprise.asx
October 11, 200520 yr Author Correct, you can customize too, here are some more TrackIR videos that feature more zooms and in cockpit views.http://cgi-bin.simradar.com/video_delivery.../wmvcapture.asxhttp://cgi-bin.simradar.com/video_delivery...767surprise.asx
October 11, 200520 yr LOL!!! what a great video. couldn't help but smile the whole way through. looks as good and as the real as the real landing videos i have.guess i will have to take another look at VC flying. if i got into track IR too, i'd have to quit work. job well done! william
October 11, 200520 yr Here was a quick demo I did for a friend back in like early January or maybe a bit earlier.http://chicago054.server4free.de/jeff/movi...ier_Takeoff.wmvThe plane is MAAM-SIM's B-25.
October 11, 200520 yr I've never seen that kind of smoothness panning around the VC like that, for example when I use my hat switch to move around the VC, it's all choppy and stuff.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD

October 11, 200520 yr Author Hardware, I simply used the S-Video out of my card and connected it to a DVD recorder, FRAPS is a frame rate killer.
