Important info (just to make you become a tiny bit more pro): if you mean Zonephoto scenery by zPhotos then I would like to bring your attention to the fact, that it can't be combined with HD Mesh Scenery v3! Both of them are mesh scenery which can not be combined in X-Plane (on-the-fly) as X-Plane only allows one active mesh scenery at the same time in the same location (where a location is always a 1x1 degree area). So if you install both (in the same location), then you will only see the one with the higher priority (defined by the scenery_packs.ini file) .... but never both at once (nor any kind of combination of them).

That's correct!

Hello there!

As a student of PhD in french literature , it is not so convenient for me to write with errors, but it seems there is not another option!

i wish i could write in french!

by the way,

thanks for your kindly comments,...

honestly, all the credits goes for Tony as a creator of World2xplane and there is another guy who created a software called Ortho im not sure about his name.i really appreciate their efforts, fantastic job !both of them..also appreciate the effort of alpilotx and his good website.

so i just read the manuals ,reading reading & reading! the manuals,to know  the structure the ruelsthe base,to find out how it works, all the forums and so on...by the way i will give instruction for anyone who are intereste.

also i've created a specific section in my website dedicated screenshots and updated them regulary..

here

I worked for 15 years with FSX ,created many learning video & reviews so far...and also X-plane recently !

here my videos FSX & X-plane:

Here

I would write a list with  advantage and disadvantages for each of them in comparison!

Regards!

Nice pictures!

So you say you created your own photo scenery/textures using Ortho? I tried digging into that once but I guess I'll need to study more.

Are there any major differences between the scenery from ZonePhoto and scenery made with Ortho?

Just to point out about HD Mesh and Orthos:

If you use G2XPL to create them, then you can actually combine the two, and this is what many people do. AlpilotX's meshes are more that just meshes though, they also contain forests, roads and autogen, and I think you do lose these but you do then have a ortho textured HD mesh

Ortho4XP is a self-contained mesh in that in makes its own mesh from raw data and can be as detailed as you like (depending on the data you find). Just like G2XPL though you will need to provide the extra objects separately

The orthos on zonephono all use the base X-Plane mesh (except a few tiles in Norway) so you can't use both together

Good to know, thanks.

But I can apply detailed autogen on top of zone photos with W2XP, right?

Yes, but the detailed part depends on how good the data is in OSM

Ok, because I have noticed that some areas of the photo scenery is for instance missing forests.

For example, I looked through this web page...

http://asn-xp.aerosoft.com/?page_id=10098

...and tested whether I could achieve similar looks around Zurich airport (LSZH) by combining the zone photo tile for that area and W2XP Europe. It did a fairly good job replicating this image, but I'm still missing trees/forest just 100 meters south-west of the closest runway.

Other than that, it seems fine. Is the lack of trees here because of W2XP Europe or other factors? Sorry for all the questions, just beginning to learn X-Plane

Forests are cut out if they fall inside an airport zone. This is likely the issue here. But it also very much depends on the quality of the data

When creating photoscenery using ortho4xp or g2xpl, is there a way to get autogen objects like trees, roads, buildings, etc to show above the photoscenery?

This would be the best of both worlds.

I see in certain screenshots that roads, trees, buildings show above the photoscenery, like the picture a few threads before this one.
