BLURRY TEXTURES !

Hello people, My Name is Nicolas, I bought P3D 1 month ago and since that day I ONLY GET BLURRIES ! I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING and I dont know what to do....

Other is that my FPS are not the best, I got at TNCM of Fly tampa 6 or Maximum 12 FPS menwhile in FSX I got like 20-25 FPS ! 
And the textures of the planes takes like 2 minutes for load up and if I change the view and then I want to see the Planes from the outside again other 2 minutes....



HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You somehow probably managed to break your .cfg file. Delete it and let it rebuild itself. Don't add anything after it rebuilds.

 

EDIT: And please don't yell in the forums. People will be more likely to ignore you.

Why not leave it as it is for awhile, fly, and change your sliders a bit at a time and see what happens when you do. No magic solution.

Leave it alone. Don't edit it. Lockheed Martin has modified it to be as good as possible. Just mess around with your sliders in the settings.

P3D doesn't require "tweaking" ... the only adjustment you might want to consider is this one:

 

[JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=14

The value "14" will vary based on your hardware/CPU.  There is a long thread here about setting the AffinityMask, results seem to vary considerably, so you'll have to experiment.  Here is a link to an AffinityMask calculator.

Yes it's supposedly a true 6 core, 6 threads, 0-5, so leaving out that AM=14 probably helped a bit since it's only three cores of the six.

 

There's few real choices of AM for that 6 core:

 

Performance leans toward loading scenery:

No AM 6 cores, and addons exe's on 1,2,3,4 avoid 0,5.

Or AM=31 5 cores, addons on 0,2,3,4 avoid 1,5.

 

Performance leans toward frame rate:

Or AM=30 4 cores, addons on 0,2,3,5 avoid 1,4.

Or AM=60 4 cores, addons on 0,1,3,5 avoid 2,4.

Affinity mask with 3.2 will likely to cause more issue than anything.. so unless you have special needs (ie: octacore and wanna free some cores for external apps / streaming or such...) don't touch it. All the AM settings you'll find on the net/old posts are outdated.

OK riddle-me-this npole: I've got a 6 core Intel. When I'm using with HT disabled, P3D makes 6 threads one per core. Is that because its desire is to have one thread per core? When I enable hyper threading, P3D makes 12 threads, two per core (one per logical processor). Does it intend to make two threads per core or does it require HT enabled, or is it fooled by HT into seeing 12 physical cores?

 

Actually v3.2 is slightly improved in the threading department, but not in the way you describe, unfortunately.

I was talking about the affinity mask set to meet specific a necessity, not about how good P3D uses all the cores available (despite the fact that as you mentioned, recently the situation is much more improved).

If you're running P3D v3.2 and you aren't doing anything else (ie: streaming), in other words if you're using the sim only, then NOT setting any affinity mask (and to expand the concept: not modifying the vanilla cfg) will be your best bet.

The config file should be tweaked only when you know you need a non-standard settings for whatever reason, the classic example is about (lowering) the FFTF. there's people who accept to have a slower loading texture loading (and blurred/unloaded scenery) because that's the only way to run the sim at minimum fps with a sub-optimal spec'ed PC. But that doesn't mean you're optimizing your config, you're just accepting a compromise: you're sacrificing something, to have a better result in something else.

If there's would be a "magic", Locked Martin would have applied it already automatically.

you're certainly on a trail there with changing affinity, but I think marginally off course. Maybe at least in the manner you describe. I think the gain in performance you see comes from moving a normal AM=0 spread of threads off of one or more LPs, corralled onto a lesser count of LPs, leaving some LPs, or cores more effectively, suddenly free for the jobscheduler to hit with other processes, say the networkling invoked by simconnect clients running in the dlls. However it doesn't cater for the exe's. The spare cores created from the change to affinity are allowing the sim to improve on performance that way. The jobscheduler will move regular threads off of heavily used LPs (logical processors) and works very well indeed. The P3D threads that occupy those LPs assigned in the AM are slightly different and stick to their LPs.

 

No-one need worry about the credibility of the jobscheduler and P3D, as it happens P3D utilises hyperthreading mode and the affinity mask jobscheduler section in the cfg better than all the other variations of this simulator to date.
