October 15, 200520 yr The Bendix-King KLN90B GPS offered by FS2X offers a wealth of aircraft performance data in addition to standard GPS functions. why is there so little notice of this little gem? Too bad there don't seem to be any panel.cfg's like Reality-XP. It's working great for me on the F1 C441. I've also checked real world C441's for sale and it appears there are about as many KLN90B's out there as there are Garmin 430/530. http://www.fs2x.com/
October 15, 200520 yr Thanks for the heads up! I wish it did not require WinZip though to extract-I don't have it and don't want to get it (or use the trial version either-I am very happy with what I have). When I try to pay thru paypal I also get the message:"Note: This recipient is not yet registered with PayPal. An email will be sent to the recipient explaining how to open a PayPal account and receive your transaction."http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 15, 200520 yr I guess I'm getting spoiled. I'm no longer a fan of these smaller GPS screens, and prefer ones where I can zoom out for the big color picture. These day's even my Garmin 296 hand-held has much better resolution than the Garmin 530 panel mount, a lot more colors, as well as showing more information in the map mode. What I really like, is something the size of the Garmin 1000 & Avidyne glass systems. It's a ton of info at a glance! There are also some smaller panel mount systems that look real good.L.Adamson
October 15, 200520 yr In my case I have a kln94 in my plane-and it is the only major gps out there that doesn't have a sim to practice on(apparently king paid a 3rd party developer to make one-gave them the exclusive rights-then it never came thru).Probably why Elite was unable to let their version out.So I would be very greatful to have one to practice in on the sim...Speaking of spoiled-this is what I am also using in the aircraft now-it is simply amazing beyond belief-and makes the Garmin look primitive!http://www.flightprep.com/rootpage.php?page=chartcaseinfohttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 15, 200520 yr That Flightprep looks like a neat product. Now if they only had a way to highlite item with it. (I come from the old school and still like to mark up my approach plates with different colored marker pens) :-)Ed Weber a.k.a tallpilot
October 15, 200520 yr Hi Ed!I wouldn't doubt that ability will come-I'll suggest it to them-excellent idea! Using a touch screen should make it pretty easy. The most amazing thing is the raster charts behave just like vector ones-e.g. you can click on an airport icon and get info-it will even "pull" up the nearest plate with your plane moving on it. The "locate" function is cool-it puts a big flashing bullseye on anything you are looking for on all of the maps. An amazing program!Right now I am going to run it off my laptop with a lilliput 8" touch screen attached to it-when the motion sunlit readable tablet pc's come down in price I'll spring for one of them.Geofhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 16, 200520 yr I just wanted to add-I bought the Bendix KLN90B by FS2X yesterday and it is an incredible piece of work-well worth the $11 imho...http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 16, 200520 yr What does it use for a nav database...and is it updateable? Is this just another interface to the crippled FS GPS code, or a more complete emulation of the real KLN90?CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
October 16, 200520 yr How is it on the FPS?I have the Aeroworx Kingair B200 and it came with their own GPS that's simular to this one. I get performance hit from it. Shutters are very obvious when making turns so I switched to a simflyer Garmin 480. But its functions are limited. This one looks great and just what I've been looking for for the B200.Thanks,Jason JasonFAA CPL SEL MEL IR CFI-I MEI AGI
October 16, 200520 yr Author Hi Geof,I second your comments about the fact that there is no KLN94 sim- our C172 fleet have them (along with a seperate MFD unit), and I would love to have something the emulated it as well as the RXP does for the GNS products. It sounds like you have purchased the KLN90B? I don't know this product specifically, although our Cessna fleet did have the older KLN89B prior to upgrading to the '94, and my recollection of it's LED display is that is was rather rudimentary(sp?) compared with the '94. While I did use the '89B for a while, the fleet was all upgraded to the '94 when I started my instrument training when I had to explore the GPS a lot more than before.Given that you are flying with a '94, how is the '90B unit with FS as far as being applicable for training purposes? Thanks- Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
October 16, 200520 yr From what I can tell it must use the Fs database as some of the newer identifies in my area are not present. I have never used a 90b but it looks like it is a pretty faithful reproduction of the real unit. It not sure about approaches (which is what I need practice on) but it does have 50 or so pages of info.Right now it is the closest I can get to a kln94-and I don't think $11.00 is unreasonable.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/130307.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 17, 200520 yr Hi All,There is, by the way, a FREEWARE version for the KLN90B.This one is from "Project Tupolev" and is intended for the upcoming Tu-154M, but will also work with the default autopilot. From what I see, the payware version does not surpass this free offering. Moreover, the PT KLN is still under development so expect improvements and new features (SID/DTAR) to be added with time.it can be downloaded here;http://www.protu-154.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2174note:follow through the entire thread, to get the latest patches and updates!!!//Michael
November 27, 200520 yr Hi Geoffrey,I remembered this post and thought I'd give you and the others that have been waiting for a KLN94 this link: http://www.friendlypanels.arrakis.es/htm/kln94.htmIt is from friendly panels and is included with their Mooney and Cessna panel packs. I purchased the Mooney panel pack cause that had the most gauges I would be interested in using. So far I think its a pretty good representation but I haven't any real time with this gauge... only a KLN90 and that was brief. Plan on taking the club's Millenium Skyhawk up soon though and it's got the '94 so hopefully this sim won't teach me any bad habits.Have fun flyin' Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
