Hi! Im trying to add some scenery to my xplane 10. Downloaded w2xp europe. I get an error when loading in at ENCN saying that w2xp europe couldnt load properly. I added the (relevant?) part of the log. Could someone with more knowledge than me have a look and tell me what Im doing wrong? By the way I added the european library, but I think it overwrote some parts of the custom scenery that was already there, but Im not quite sure.

Hmmm, If i look into my w2xp_Europe these files are there, so I would expect that something went wrong with the download or the decompression.

 

The Europe Library shouldn´t overwrite anything.

The problem may be your world-models library. With Simheaven's scenery, you need to use their version of world-models and not the one I uploaded on x-plane.org. Also, it looks like the file didn't extract properly and there are lots of missing files

Speaking of Simheaven, I can't seem to find their website for some reason.

Thanks Julian. I tend to not bookmark anything these days, preferring to simply type the name into google. Which, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to work well to find their website.

I have a similar problem with W2XP America, I tried to download many times the file from SimHeaven.com but I always have a broken download. Unfortunately the files are big and server is not very stable.

On the main W2XP page here, it lists the following instruction:

This is needed for all w2xp sceneries, it’s the library for all sceneries (except w2xp_xxx_net), you have to update to the newest version from simheaven.com. Please refer to the ReadMe for changes.

Thanks, Jimmy. Is this the same as european library, or is it a different library? Oh and it seems I already downloaded that file. w2xp_world-models. I reinstalled it, and I still get the error.

I just want to point out that I'm not the developer or owner of Simheaven (people keep sending me emails asking for support). I'm the author of the tool used to generate the sceneries which Simheaven kindly use this to produce sceneries. I'll help where I can, but please don't send me requests to fix files that I have no control over  :wink: (Nobody on this thread did, but somebody who read the thread did)

Yep, I let the site project go for various reasons, but most of my sceneries are hosted on X-Plane.org in the World2XPlane area. 

I downloaded the unified library installer which gives you the most popular libraries (current versions I guess?), and and now I have lost track a little of what is connected with what. I will try to uninstall the w2xp scenery so I dont get the annoying error message during startup.

I would suggest that the best course of action to setup your scenery is to start from the bottom up (this is all optional, but this is my process):

 

1) Download and install HD Mesh for the region where you want to fly. Place it in the scenery library according to the great instructions given on the HD Mesh website. Make sure it works - follow the instructions given for what to check for in the log file to ensure that it's being loaded.

 

2) Download and install 'Tree Lines and Farms' from the same place as the HD Mesh. It's use might not be suitable 100% of the time, but I would not fly without it. Instructions are on it's product page, but I believe it goes above the HD Mesh, and below any W2XP scenery.  Once again, start XP and make sure it works (it's immediately apparent).

 

3) Download and install your desired W2XP OSM package. I pretty much only every fly in North America, so I only have one package to consider. I believe there are options for Europe, but if I recall, the Simheaven page does a good job of explaining the differences. You also must download and install the Simheaven version of the 'world models' library at this point. Once installed, again, start XP and make sure it's working.

 

Now you have a functional, nice looking scenery base on which to place airports on. You only have one custom library (the Simheaven version of world models) and three layers of custom scenery (a few more if you're installing for multiple regions). Very easy to trouble shoot, easy to make sure it's all working the way it should.

 

Then, and ONLY then, you can start downloading and installing custom, non-gateway airports and their required libraries. Because you already had a working base, you can quickly identify any airport or additional libraries that might be causing you issues.
