I Am Building a New System

Recommended Posts

It is time to move past my AMD days. My current specs are below.

I have decided I want a better FSX SE and P3D experience, my current system will let me fly somewhat  smooth with PMDG and 3rd party scenery at the cost of detail and any ability to add on clouds, traffic and other add on products. I just cant enjoy most of what these platforms provide.

So here is what I am building

Asus  Z170-P MOBO

8GB   Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4

Cooler Master,212 EVO CPU Cooler

1TB Seagate HD 7200rpm 64MB

Windows 7 64Bit.....................................Will upgrade to Windows 10 before the end of July.

AND........ Intel I7 6400K 4.0 GHZ CPU

this will be matched up with my EVGA 970 GTX I currently own.

What do you think

Randy

Intel I7 6700 4.0 CPU Western Digital Caviar 1TB SATA 6.0Gb/s Hard Drive  16GB DDR4 Crucial RAM. Corsair 750 Watt PSU.

EVGA NVIDIA GTX1080 FTW GPU

Looks good - but why not stay on Win 7, like many of us here?

You need to change it to Intel 6700K CPU and GTX 1070  (or GTX 1080) Video card.(Oh you already are using your 970.. which is fine)

If I were you, I would take a look at GSkill Ripjaw V or Trident Z. GSkill have done a great job. Optimized for Skylake.

Do you intend to overclock? If so, the 212 Evo isn't too bad but it will hold you back if you want to get the best out of the 6700K.

I take it you don't have room in your budget for an SSD?

As for Windows, I went for W10 Pro. Having said that, I don't sim that much these days.
