Something along these lines is certainly the (or a possible) future. It does need a decent internet connection to work well, but it can look pretty blooming good.

 

I'd love to see global photoreal, with this kind of 3D tech in a sim (no more Autogen Yes !!!) but I'd still rather have the data stored on my PC than having to stream it via broadband. Maybe in ten years it will all come together.

Some sort of module that could inject this into X-Plane 11 with VR or something would be awesome.

A plug-in that loads the Google data (or Apple, it is as good) literally "on the fly" into X-Plane could be done within a month, if Google would only offer an API...

 

I personally believe this will happen at some point and it will be the final word in terms of scenery.
