  1. exactly - immersion, just the knowing it's there same reason cabins became mandatory for serious developers
  2. he is an airline pilot, as he says in the video - so you already have the view of one real life pilot i think, as others do here, that the issue is that the sim does not accurately model the tyre effect, and it's too "literal" in applying it's logic on touchdown, hence the aircraft immediately shoots in the direction of the tyres, rather than "sliding" a bit in as it does in real life in the direction it's momentum is taking it when he says the wind would not push the aircraft left like that, i suspect he may be referring to how the wind is pushing against the vertical stabiliser which, on the ground, pushes the nose towards the wind it does happen in real life, but far more subtle, giving the pilot the opportunity to apply opposite rudder
  3. You’re both talking past me, unfortunately. I was trying to identify compelling reasons for me personally to go from FS20 to FS24, and I said I didn’t see any specific new features that I personally find compelling. You've reframed that into “can you keep running old software if you like it?”, which is obviously true but not the point I was making. When I said “compelling,” I meant compelling features in FS24 relative to FS20. Hope that clarifies!
  4. some people on this forum assume anyone challenging them is looking for a fight 😄 you said there was no compelling reason to upgrade from P3D or FSX to 24 - even I could name a few reaosns 😁 yeah i think that's exactly my point really, no compelling reason for me personally - no interest in that type of flying
  5. Ryzen9 5950X, 64gb, 3080ti 12gb ancient now 😁
  6. well of course, I'm not saying it's not an improvement in many ways, so it's not surprising no-one (excluding those including me during the shambolic launch) would refund and go back just don't see anything particularly groundbreaking or different in the streams I've watched thanks for taking the time to write that 🙂 in the absence of any further feature additions, it will probably be that diminishing support for FS20 that moves me over you don't think FS24 provides any compelling reasons to upgrade over P3D or FSX? do you understand what compelling means?
  7. still don't see a compelling reason to go from 20 to 24 in all honesty
  8. very pretty but....it's missing something imo compared to the XP implementation I love that aircraft over there - from the moment you start the engines and begin taxiing, you really get the sensation you're piloting a behemoth of an aircraft, a real sense of size and weight seems a little stale in comparison in that video, which is surprising considering the hype around the new physics in '24 - just my personal opinion, might feel different when it's released and we get to play with it
  9. Twitch really took off during Covid - lot of people "working" from home, watching live gaming streams IMO
  10. "SponsorBlock" addon magically skips even the baked in, read-out adverts 🥰
  11. "and don't forget to like and subscribe guys, I'd like to also thank today's sponsor (oh what, you thought subscribing to youtube premium would save you from read out ads??), so it's been another HUGE week in flight simming that simply cannot pass without a 10 minute video from me explaining this to you, with some generic videos and a script written by AI that pads the video out as much as possible"
  12. do we have to try and get excited about a 737 AGAIN? 😴
  13. sounds like we're getting close to MSFS2024 RTM 😄
  14. same, I'm using XP all the time now over MSFS, it's hard to put your finger on exactly why, but it just feels so much more dynamic and alive, whatever stage of the flight you are at - it feels like the aircraft exists in that virtual space, and there are consequences and realism in everything you do, turbulence in clouds is hyper-realistic imo no matter how much people post links to "ReAL piLOtS!!1!" championing the MSFS flight model, it simply doesn't come anywhere near close to what XP provides - for me, MSFS has still not (completely) shaken off the on-rails feel that has blighted the product forever i'm not a pilot, and it may be that some aircraft in MSFS fly better to the numbers, but I am a human and I know what realistic motion and inertia looks and feels like i mentioned in another thread that MSFS delivers the feeling of travelling to and arriving somewhere different better than XP (one of the main attractions in simming for me.....), but XP delivers the feeling of actually FLYING somewhere different far better - if they can nail the scenery improvements then that is the final piece of the puzzle for me
  15. one of the reasons I like satellite imagery so much is, if you depart the green UK and fly south to the mediterannean islands of Mallorca, Malta, Canary Islands etc (typical British holiday destinations...) you really do feel like you have travelled somewhere different that's my hopes for XP, i.e. the volcanic landscape of the canary islands (jsut to give an example), looks vastly different to the rolling fields and urban areas of the UK it's escapism for me and part of the attraction of simming is the feeling of travelling somewhere, MSFS does this very well, especially if you happen to fly your final approach over a PG area - for me, even melted buildings at 1000 feet and 150 knots look realistic to my eye - if you fly to the other side of the world, you're not just met with generic (if regionalised) buildings in nearby city centres, it's very close visually to flying over the real foreign city you just arrived at
  16. complaining about complaining is complaining what's with the ageism here suddenly? I'm 40 so don't consider myself old by many measures, but why is it ok to make these thinly veiled digs at people older than you having common, negative traits? I'll be buying these sounds btw, but will continue to highlight moronic trends in youtube 😄
  17. why do "influencers" all pull those ridiculous faces on their video thumbnails
  18. cloud gaming has been "the next big thing" for a long time https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Stadia
  19. an awful lot of caveats there unfortunately to stop me getting excited about this, screenshots are poor but it's early days clearly
