Windows Seven not updating

Featured Replies

Greg.... it worked!

Great news.

Glad it worked for you, Martin.  And I'm glad this thread is here with numerous solutions to this problem.  Some options work for some folks but not others, so hopefully all the possible solutions here might be useful to a number of Win 7 users.  It's a perplexing problem, one we should not anticipate being resolved anytime soon.  MS has made it clear they will do only the minimum for OS's not named 10.

I still have the scars from this subject... Spent a fruitless week trying to find a working solution. FINALLY

URL   download.wsusoffline.net worked.

You will need another computer that is updated and a USB stick which the download program uses to create is own list of offline updates.

On the affected computer you MUST turn OFF all updating then use the stick to run the program, when finished turn updates back on and everything will update normally.

Hope this avoids the pain I went through for others.

p.s. The usb stick can then be used in future windows installs on other computers to speed up the updating. Apparently all this aggro is because one of the updates during the year has a bug. Why Microsoft haven't addressed this seems very mean.

I found that link independently too. It worked on my Acer Win 7 Pro laptop but my two W7 Home Premium PCs were fine.

Hey Ray,

Maybe make separate post and maybe administrator pin it.

Hey Ray,

Maybe make separate post and maybe administrator pin it.

Graham,

If you mean on the Microsoft site I did that and have yet to receive a reply. Not sure how you 'administrator pin it' ??
