Is it the end of the road for Photoscenery in P3D?
I use photoscenery extensively in P3D v3.3 and have no VAS issues but NL2000 does seem a hog as reported above (both FSX & P3D). I think there is some issue with scenery around Amsterdam that is the cause. I should add that my scenery sliders are fully to the right. Gordon P.S. Apart from freeware airports I do not use Orbyx. Only UTX and some freeware or low cost autogen.

FSopen Clouds not working in P3D
I have received no response from Mr Wave at Open Clouds..... looks like this is now dead in the water and no longer supported..... Took my money though. (thankfully not much). Only simple good manners to update a web site if you stop trading or get bored with the project. Gordon

FSopen Clouds not working in P3D
Hello all, I have used the payware version of FSopen Clouds for some years. Of late it is causing P3D 3.2.3 to CTD when an airport anywhere North of Hamberg and East of Berlin is selected. Elsewhere in the world it works as expected (i.e. Wesern Europe and Alaska). I have installed AoN and SWD scenery for Scandinavia but the CTD's happen with or without scenery activation. I have emailed Dave Wave twice and posted to the FSopen forum which despite previewing and being submitted OK is not showing in the forum. Has FSopen stopped trading? Anybody have an handle on why Scandinavia area causing a CTD. Any information gratefully received. Thanks and regards Gordon

Me too. Paris looks amazing but is it photoreal or generic autogen or is it both i.e. photoreal 3D. Looks like the latter (would be nice). I have Earth Simulations Isle of Man which has photoreal 3D and at full settings it does hammer the FPS. I also agree with your comment about a confusing product line up. A revision of the web site making things clearer and better descriptions would help. Gordon

Have looked at the product several times but price and the small size of each package put me off. Perhaps for those living in France it is a more attractive business proposition. Gordon

Anyone come back to FSX after trying P3D?
I use a second touchscreen monitor for the GPS, using FSX preview DX10 this screen goes blank and FSX locks up with a cursor endlessly spinning. Does Steve's Fixer stop this? Is there a way round the problem? Reading this thread it seems a lot of you use DX10 so are we comparing an enhanced FSX against a standard P3D? It was that P3D had the hope of DX10 performance with multiple screens that caused my purchase of V1 in the first place (not sure if Steves Fixer was around then). Just curious, Gordon

Anyone come back to FSX after trying P3D?
I was luke warm about P3D until I upgraded to a GTX 970 then I understood why from day 1 Lockheed have said get the best video card you can afford. It would be interesting to see if those having issues with P3D have older GPU My rig is OC 2700K ssd and GTX970 I run scenery slders at max (exluding water and ai), photo scenery and treescapes, Flying GA it is locked at 30fps. Use 3 Saitek panels and 4 usb boards to control switches and rotaries. FPS doesn't drop often, only Earth Siumulations Isle Of Man nails it but that is insane scenery especially when flying along the beach checking out the hotels!. Very heavy clouds DO affect the system. (I do not use NI and the AA settings are all nearly at max within P3D) I also use GTN750 gps which is excellent. Occasionally get a stutter but I think this is either autosave on FSUIPC or other non P3D cause. Otherwise generally smooth.Certainly not an issue for me. Do I use FSX (it is on my computer) No, I have simply moved on. Is it substantially better than FSX to justify the change over cost, IMHO not if you don't have a spanking GPU. Will I be in a hurry for P3D 64bit, er...no, too much payware scenery Gordon

Carenado PA28RT 201 ARROW IV: Still relevant?
Rarely use this simulation now..... Always have had real difficulty in landing the nose wheel gently. I understand that the T tail causes the nose wheel to lower quickly and is a feature of this aircraft, but it just seems that as soon as the main gear touches the front wheel slams down. OK it might be just my duff landings but I don't have the same issue with other Carenado offerings. In all other respects its OK although the guage resolution by todays HD standards is only fairly good. Gordon

EGXY Spitfire really on it this morning
Hello all, I live near EGXY which is used for practice runs for the Waddington airshow etc. For the past three days a Spitfire has been showing up and been doing circuits. Today the pilot must had a good breakfast as he/she is really beating up the main runway and doing steep turns at either end. To hear the Merlin engine (can't mistake it) look out of the window and see a Spitfire in plan view as it does a steep turn is quite something. Thought I'd share my good fortune. Gordon

Playsims / Horizon VFRGenX quickfixes
Hello all, a plea for help, would some kind soul point me in the right direction. I am getting a CTD when flying near Prestwick and this seems to be caused by a faulty tile in Playsims/Horizon VFRGenX Vol 8 photoscenery. I have tried Playsims and Horizon websites and emailed support as advised on the (holding) webpage. All with no reply/success. Does anybody know where I can download the Horizon quickfixes? I am especially interested in Vol 8 but I understand there are fixes for other volumes also. Thanks in advance Gordon

Not familiar with the Paul Craig B60 - but it sounds like the fuel is switched off. Are the fuel switches animated? Can you start the engines using CTRL + E ? Gordoin

Mindstar or Flight1 GPS?
Hello Ryan and Todd, Thank you for your responses... I did reply some days ago but my comments aren't showing in this thread, don't know why. So here goes again. Your info regarding Flight1 navdata has really confused me. Is my understanding correct that the worldwide terrain data for the Flight1 product is on the training disc and that it is currently cycle 0611 i.e. June 2011 the same as possible with RealityXP.? What about Navdata, is that upto date, global and included at time of purchase? How is it updated. I have a cockpit (of sorts) and a touch screen with two concentric rotaries dedicated to the GPS so the touch screen of the GTN isn't essential. Up to date Navdata is. The RealityXP database I use at the moment is becoming increasingly dated and irritating. So a GPS system with easy and regular updating of all the Navdata is a major selling point. It would be very helpful if WarpD could respond to this thread with some clear indication of WAAS implementation. As WAAS EGNOS is becoming more common in Europe most of the updated navdata will be for approaches the Mindstar product can't currently use. Any further clarification on this subject is very much appreciated. Kind regards Gordon

Mindstar or Flight1 GPS?
Hello all, I fly exclusively GA and in Europe. In FSX I have used RealityXP GNS430/530 in FSX for some years now and would miss the convenience of an autopilot that is programmable. I am about to buy a GTX970 and switch to P3D (I have versions 1 and 2). The last hurdle to P3D is the GPS. Can I tap the views of the flightsim community and ask for opinion on whether the Mindstar GNS430/530 or the Flight1 GNS750 is the better bet? Please bear in mind that I am Europe based and that NAVDATA will have to be for that region. I am happy with the functionality of the 430/530 so the latest spec of the 750 is not a major selling point. Up to date NAVDATA most definitely is. So my question is.... Do I buy Mindstar plus the NAVDATA data OR buy Flight1 and put myself at the mercy of the nearest Garmin agent (Sturgate Airfield) to buy the Garmin training disc and hope that it will contain current/updated NAVDATA Any feedback very much appreciated. Wing tip to wing tip view over triple monitors
hovercrafter replied to eland2705's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcIn FSUIPC payware version you can assign a button/keystroke to "View Virtual Cockpit Forward" which snaps the view (from whatever you panned to) to the default straight ahead view. The programme also has many other view possibilities not covered in the standard FSX / P3D options. If you are not familiar with FSUIPC do investigate it, as it is well worth the modest fee. Gordon

Should I use Nvidia graphics card for sound
Hello all, may I pick your brains.... My Gigabyte Z68X-UD3-B3 has on board sound (azalia) The video card Asus GTX560 has on board (Nvidia) sound. To minimise performance loss in P3D or FSX whilst using sound should I a) use on board sound and route through the video card to the HDM/DVII socket, or b) just use on board sound, or c) install separate sound blaster card (I have an old one spare) so not using cpu or gpu, or d) use the Asus graphics card for sound, or e) get a life and stop being OCD about FSX fps. What I am asking is which is worse, to have a hit on the GPU or the CPU. The GTX560 is only 1gb so struggles with P3D consequently mainly using FSX for now. (can't afford a Titan). To round off - the cpu is a 2700K OC to 4.5mhz and 8mb ram with SSD storage. I would prefer to continue to use the DVI connection to the monitor speakers but will sacrifice this if a real performance increase is noted from the separate sound card option. Thanks for any input. Gordon Don't know how the emoticon appeared !! Not supposed to be there.

FSUIPC ; my axes are corrupt again.
Just had a look in my FSX FSUIPC ini file and found entries for P3D aircraft! Looks as if the ini file was corrupted by the Estonia Migration tool somehow. I am swapping between the two flightsim platforms a lot at the moment. Will keep an eye on this from now on. Gordon

FSUIPC ; my axes are corrupt again.
Do you have P3D / Migrator installed? I think, I have had some instances where FSUIPC has gone very slightly haywire when changing between FSX and P3D and/or different aircraft. Resetting the affected buttons / axis in FSUIPC resolved matters (so far) for V2 but in 1.4 I had to re-install FSUIPC. Could be either a FSUIPC Profile or Saitek issue, I really am not sure. Gordon
