September 3, 20169 yr Author Hi Paul Thanks for your comment. I'm having it only since 3 days and slowly feel one of the problems i will have: my SSD has only 95 GB left, that means in a few monthes i would have to reinstall everything on another drive  I purchased the complete series of ORBX (base, vector and LC Europe and USA), the Aerosoft sceneries EDDT, LSZH, LEPA, LEMG, LIRF and the Aerosoft A318/319/320/321. And AS16/ASCA. For the moment i try to find out why the textures are a little bit blurry (although i set max. resolution). And the cockpit of the A320 looks blurry too when i use HDR ON and can't read very well the numbers. That's strange... About the electronics flight bag: have fun with it! September 5, 20169 yr Author Hi again to all The main "problem" i experienced so far is that i get extreme FPS fluctuations. Within a second or less, they go from 18 to over 80 (!) without any reason. I am not used to that. Normally from what i was used to, the can indeed vary a lot but only if for example the weather changes (clouds) or if we approach an area with a lot more autogen or more complexitiy. But even over the sea and without any clouds (or interactions with sceneries or things like that), the fps went from 30 to 110 within milliseconds (!) If i lock them to a value, let's say 35, then they will continue to vary a lot from 18 to 35... Do you know what that could be and how i can set a much more stable FPS? i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM
September 5, 20169 yr Yeah, what's your CPU overclock set to? Unlike XP10, P3D is still very CPU based - you need a powerful CPU to run it well. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 5, 20169 yr Isn't largely fluctuating fps often caused by Vsync issues? I have my monitor set to 30 fps and Vsync set to "on" (in game) and fluctuations as displayed are from 28-32 at most, in sceneries where this can be kept. I find P3D really fluent in this case. Now, in hard sceneries fps can go below and there are more fluctuations but never in the percentage range by the OP. Moreover, locking fps to a certain value in-game should smooth things (at the cost of some mean fps). Unfortunately, setting Vsync to half of the monitor frequency does not seem to work in P3D. Anyway, I would try what Vsync (and maybe triple buffering) "on" can achieve. September 5, 20169 yr Author Thanks for the info. I'm having an i4770K, 3.5 Ghz. It isn't overclocked. Strangeliy it is showed having around 3.70 Ghz in the Task-Manager (under CPU)...but it should be an 3.5 Ghz one. I know not the most powerful one, but i already have turnded down a lot of settings. And at Aerosoft EDDF still having only around 20-21 with Aerosoft A320... i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM
September 5, 20169 yr Calm down. I am still using an i7-2600/3.4 GHz, not overclocked, and it does pretty well even with high settings. September 5, 20169 yr P3D and FSX both seemed to benefit greatly from clock speeds over 4.0ghz. I find mild overclocks from 4.1ghz to 4.30ghz help P3D and don't cause problems with other software I run. K
September 5, 20169 yr Author In fact i'm quite angry to overclock my processor... In the meantime I observed that 3 CPU's are constantly at 100% (Task Manager / Ressource Monitor), i think that is quite strange....all other 5 CPU's are "normal" around 30-60%. I do have the problem with blurries textures as well after a few minutes of flight... Another question: what settings would you recommand me if i have a Nvidia TITAN 6GB? Can i set all textures to max resp. can i put some workload into that GPU insetad of the CPU? i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM
September 7, 20169 yr And at Aerosoft EDDF still having only around 20-21 with Aerosoft A320... Aren't Aerosoft airports notorioulsy harsh on fps? (I'm asking someone else) but I believe they are. 20 fps with an addon is pretty good I'd say for 3.5 GHz. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 7, 20169 yr Author OK, thanks. In the meantime i get a little bit better framerates since i read a lot about optimising the framerates like changing the affinity parameter and so on. I really begin to appreciate P3D  And i downloaded the PMDG 737 who is really nice and has better franerates than the Areosoft 320... i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM
September 7, 20169 yr The main "problem" i experienced so far is that i get extreme FPS fluctuations. Hi Franz, there is a section AVSIM P3D guide (Page 146 - Performance) that might help you stabilize FPS. Also, if you're using multiple GPUs, Shift + Z is not reliable. Cheers, Rob.
September 7, 20169 yr Author Thanks very much Rob, will take a look at those infos. i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM
