Question: are the clouds 3D?

on the flat monitor all in 2D

Well, that's not really a good argument, is it? 2D clouds may look great on screenshots but they look like simple billboards in the sim and have an array of problems that true volumetric clouds do not have (such as rotating when the view angle changes, popping up suddenly from behind another cloud, etc.). Having watched a bunch of videos of this product by regular users (not promo videos showing only the best angles), I find this product extremely underwhelming (not even considering the hefty price tag).

The clouds are not 3D.

I purchased the product for X-Plane 11 beta and now regret it.  Its not what it has been promoted to be.

i felt the same when i purchase it in the beginning but after several flight i am convinced it is capable of drawing correct metars and a fair representation of the weather especially if you do IFR flights, regardless 2D clouds res which sometimes looks not as good at low level. But they have road map development to improve things http://xenviro.net/work.php and this is one of the screenies in today's test near KPSP if you wanna try, i put my settings also which helps to reduce some unwanted effects and reduce stretching of textures . And you are correct due to low res textures many times it does not look so good , i recommend you do couple of test flight in IFR. Also if you are on beta 2 xp11, learn how to edit value of default haze/fog it should go to zero at dusk to see nicely without bad color haze...sorry lot of info.

*fix: fog/haze at dusk

fog/haze fix at dusk and you can put back during day as per this method:

A quick fix for this is to change the default haze/fog value manually in data ref editor untill xenviro fixes this hoping they give us sliders to control it manually. Download data ref editor from here http://www.xsquawkbox.net/xpsdk/mediawiki/DataRefEditor and install it, go to plugins --> Dataref editor--> show art controls--> search for "dev" and change the value of this line "fog/std_deviation_cutoff=1.5" from 1.5 to 0. This worked for me.

This will remove the haze, If you want the haze back in the day, just change it back to 1.5 or other value you wish (1 or 0.5).

Unfortunately this process has to be repeated everytime you fire xplane or restart x enviro. Hoping x enviro will give us sliders to control these things.

Thank you for the help.  I just feel it is a work in progress and the haze is not well depicted and the 2D clouds are reminiscent of the first REX clouds release.  It is bothersome when flying through the clouds when you glance to the side you see a Cloud wall, not the full volumetric cloud.

I also dislike having to fix things manually.

For the price paid, I expected the same quality or better that is offered by other companies that market such products to FSX and Prepar3d.  Hopefully he product will be sorted out and an update offered at no cost.
