GPS Approache waypoints not working ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Sorry in advance if this question has been answered before , I tried using Google but could not find my exact issue.

I just bought my first payware aircraft the Turbo Duke V2 , which is awesome. My issue is that when approaching say PADU ( Dutch Harbor AK )  the gps garmin 500 will not fly the procedure way points at all.  I see the approach options and no matter which one I pick nothing happens. Even the way points in this area hitting the direct too does nothing.  I don't mind flying manual at all just hoping that someone might have an idea has to how I might be able to get this to work.
It will work on some airports.

Cheers and thanks

Does it fly your flight plan waypoints ok?

The FSX GPS 500 has quite limited functionality and a terrible user interface..

Suggest upgrading to the Flight1 GTN 750 for the best avionics.

and thank you very much for the help

Ah ok thanks for the video , but my issue is not in the use of the gps . I have used it a lot and it works great for a lot of airports but am finding more and more airports that it is not working right.

I will make a short video showing the issue.

OBS studio having a update,  will try and get a Vid post up tomorrow as it is getting late for me here.

Thanks again

If it works at some airports then it works OK. If it's not working at others perhaps these airports should be compared working vs non-working?

Ok here is a quick video showing the gps not working correct at PADU ,  I can make more videos showing how it is not working right at many airports.

The direct to way point will never work ,  Picking a landing procedure will not work.

So for example; which ICAO does it work at?

Pretty much all the ICAO's will have issues ,  A few ICAOs might have one or two GPS procedures that work. Say PANC   for example has a few landing procedures that you can choose from on the GPS but only one or two  will work if that.

And I have yet to find any direct way points that will work.

Will make another video showing the default 172 at PANC if needed.

The stock GPS relies on navigation data embroiled into the scenery data, whereas an addon GPS unit may rely on their own navigaion database. Therefor an addon GPS will show approaches if they are listed in their own database, and the stock FSX GPS will show approaches if they are listed in the sim scenery data, including addon scenery.

With FSX+A stock scenery both airports appear to have approaches listed but at first glance those at PADU seem to have incorrect approach data. I'll check again.

No flight plan in Garmin

I was on the ground at PACS

Took screenshots if needed

RealAir Duke B60

I tested Nearest Int ICYOH first

Selected ICYOH

Activated it

It was added to Active flight plan (only one waypoint now in plan)

Got route line drawn from PACS to ICYOH

All ok so far.

Not one Nearest Intersection will work though ,

So ifs there a painless way for a person to reset all the navigation data ?  I do tend to down load all the things :)
