You can go to 64GB.

You are better off with using 1 channel, faster!

Good Luck

Really, enlighten me why he would do that with quad channel ram.

"Dual-and quad-channel setups are the most popular and improve performance by allowing motherboards to use multiple channels to send and receive data simultaneously, therefore improving bandwidth. It's possible to run memory in single-channel mode, but there'll be a performance decrease if you run a single stick of memory rather than two or four."

sorry I meant 2 channels

It's duel channel, not quad channel.

I'm sure Baldy meant use Channel 1, not 1 [one] channel.

And on that subject, it used to be the case that overclocking was better with just two slots populated, but not such an issue anymore. 4 slots populated wont affect overclocking too much I wouldn't think.

Hopefully Westman will confirm.

What ram would be good? 16 gb is fine but in may go 32 (I use XP11 as well).

GSkill Ripjaw V 3200 modules are nice.

Z270 boards can handle faster though if you fancy it. 4133 MHz I believe. In which case, Trident Z, or if you want to go fancy, the new Trident Z with LED's.

I'd just go for 16G GB. Two sticks. 2X8 GB.

You sir, are right on!

It was a long day, I was a bit tired. Sorry for any errors.

Ryan. 2x8 G-Skill 3600mhz c15 or c16 is optimal for this MoBo

Can run as high as 4000mhz , but the latencys ar approx c18-c19 not much gain.

No problem to run 4x8 G-Skill c15 XMP , you not need to buy a set of 4.

You can buy 2 sets 2x8, the matched set is a myt ( when bindning mems you buy 5sets 2x8 then test each stick the 2 best sticks be a super matched set

I have a very good set G-Skill one 3200 C14 the other TridentZ 3600 c16. ( same type chip in them)

One nice thing the XMP is set buy the slot with lowest number the slot closest to CPU , that set i can run XMP for the 3200 or 3600 only change place of the mem sticks

You got it Ryan!

I have used a good deal of Corsair and gskill. I remember having to return only 1 set of Corsairs matched memory. I have never had to return gskill! That gskill memory is just what the doctor ordered. You will most likely, not be sorry.

Best
