How many are planning on buying the Queen V3 for FSX

Recommended Posts

For P3D, at list there is a future, I am sure that they also adapt the queen to the new code inside P3d SDK.

I'm in for the FSX version of the 747.

No P3D for me for the forseeable future since I have sunk quite some $$$ into my current FSX setup with all the addons (aircraft, airports, terrain ...)

If the price will be +-$10-$15 I'll be buying it on the first day.

I won't be buying this or any other product made for FSX/P3D. It's time to move forward.

i am gonna buy it. i am unsure if i should buy it for fsx-se or p3d. i currently have p3d installed because i upgraded my fsx fsl a320x to p3d. i am not happy with vas readings, so thats why i am not sure. the pmdg 777 is at least flyable in p3d. i will probably buy the p3d version and let it sit in the hangar if i have vas problems and wait for 64 bit. regardless i am gonna buy it. i am excited to grab that big bird.

Not sure how you're getting VAS issues, I only ran into VAS issues with 777 when I approached CYYZ with all sliders on max, but generally I dont run everything on max. For example at FB KSFO HD and 777 I have about 500-700mb left.

My question is: is there maybe a way to port my physical version to Steam and have a discount or do I have to re-purchase? If there are evident improvements in the Steam edition -which I haven't ever experienced as I have never used said version- then I will get it right away and postpone my migration to Prepar3D...

Thank you by the way BaldyB for your heads-up!

Nah, you'll just have to buy it, but as noted, it often goes on sale, normally it's about 20 quid, but I've seen it discounted to 7.99 on occasion (most recently this Christmas). It is vastly improved over the boxed and patched version, and by default the Steam version includes the Acceleration add-on and patches etc, so it is equivalent to a souped up patched version of FSX Deluxe Edition with the Acceleration add on (thus it is okay with add ons that need those things, such as A2A, PMDG etc aeroplanes with more realistic engine simulations).

You can have FSX and FSX-SE both on your computer at the same time, although to be honest, if you use the Steam Edition, you'll pretty soon want to get rid of your older boxed version, since the Steam Edition runs waay better than the older MS boxed version.

See this link for differences and improvements:

https://fsxinsider.com/fsx-steam-edition-and-boxed-fsx-what-is-the-difference/

As an example of why the Steam Edition is much better, i can tell you that the FlySimWare LearJet 35 would regularly cause OOM errors on my boxed and patched version of FSX, but it runs like a charm on the Steam version. Likewise things such as the PMDG 737NG and the FSL A320 run great on my Steam version, and noticably better than they did on the old boxed version in terms of FPS, load times and so on.

Here is an interesting comparison of FSX boxed versus FSX-SE worth checking out, with reference to VAS, load times, FPS etc:

The one thing which can be a minor issue, is that older FSX add-ons which were out before the Steam Edition existed, and thus don't have the installer pointing to the Steam versions CFG and EXE files, have to be pointed to them manually, but that's not hard to do most of the time, so you don't have to worry about having to buy stuff through Steam or whatever, all your old FSX stuff can be installed on it just fine.

Another FSX user here.

Until I have the money to re-buy my PMDG fleet for P3D (which will take quite some time...) and the hardware to support it, I'm sticking with FSX...

i'm hoping that Steve's DX10 Fixer will prolong my FSX life for some time.
