got it working:

. first uninstall RXP GTN (only plugin not the trainer)

. manually delete programdata\realityxp files

. manually delete plugin from xplane 11 en 10 folders

. reactivate license key via flight1

. fresh install RXP GTN

for installation, the important files are:

  • C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\rxpGtnSim32.dll
  • C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\rxpGtnSim64.dll
  • C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\RXPGTN.rxp
  • XPlane\Resources\Plugin\rxpGTN\32\win.xpl
  • XPlane\Resources\Plugin\rxpGTN\64\win.xpl

These are generally the only ones you'd have to manually delete. The installer is configured to overwrite files with same or greater version numbers, but it might just have failed in your case to replace the previous 2.4.1 files with the newest 2.4.1 files.

As for troubleshooting, a transparent black popup window with name of the gauge in red to the lower left indicates the plugin is running fine but failed to instantiate a GTN device. Might be due to license authentication, trainer installation problem or any other thing preventing the creation of a GTN device, and this is usually reported in the "my documents\rxp#####.log" files.

Jean-Luc,

Happy that my GTN is running again.

May be very well the case that the update didn't update the files as it should do.

Maybe this helps bluebell2 as well;

Marc.

Why is that the GNS installed okay but the GTN did not.

This is not the problem. Popup window is there but the screen is always black and the 3D window disappears completely.

Looks like I have a problem with GTN trainer was working okay before update.

This disappearing screen on the panel leads me to think there might be a combination of settings which hit a edge case, because 2.4.1 render code explicitly draws a black quad when the device is off, and never draws alpha channel except with integral lighting texture.

This could mean a mismatch of some sort between the plugin (win.xpl) and the simulation (rxpGtnSim.dll). What if you reboot (to unlock any file from deletion), manually delete the files listed above and run the installer again?

It may be my AMD Radeon R9 200 driver which has just update from 17.1.2 to 17.2.1

The GTN trainer is not working.

Do you mean standalone it is not working?

Besides, can you successfully run the GNS instead? the changes in both .1 updates are very similar in that they focus on the plugin enhancements mostly, such as blank screen for 1 sec when powering on, TCAS missing targets, datarefs override, and roughly half of the performance enhancements etc.. The only 'Garmin device' related enhancements in .1 updates are the other half of the performance enhancements and the few GTN improvements such as proper heading below 30kts.

Correct.

Have uninstalled GTN Trainer and download new and reinstaled, still the same.

Only thing that has change apart form your updates was AMD drivers.

Maybe its not the ATI driver but something else in the system? Can you revert back the drivers to cross-check?

Looking at their release notes known issues, I pinpoint this of interest:

  • AMD FreeSync™ technology mode may not be compatible or function with Sniper Elite™ 4.
  • A small amount of apps may still experience issues with Borderless Fullscreen mode and AMD FreeSync™ technology if other applications or game launchers are running on the primary screen in the background.

Maybe you might add a profile for the Garmin Trainer making sure 'FreeSync' is disabled.

The 2nd point hits our case though: X-Plane full screen while trainer is running in the background. Can you confirm you have the same issue in X-Plane Windowed mode?

yes

Good Day,

Just installed new latest version (2.4.1) Seems to be working fine, except still no TCAD. It is highlighted in the control panel, and turned on in the GTN.

Using XP-11 pb11.0.0.19 no addons except PE and the RXP GTN 750
