Vectors vs SIDs questions for PRO Atc

Recommended Posts

Forgive me, I'm a PRO ATC/ ATC noob

First question:

Is there a way to only receive SIDs as opposed to receiving heading vectors sometimes?

Second question:

When I DO receive vectors, do I just enter the heading they tell me to into the MCP until they tell me to continue on the path programmed in the FMC? On that note, how do I know when they want me to do that? And I'd select LNAV, correct?

Third question:

What does "continue as filed" mean? Is it the answer to the question above?

Thanks a lot!!

If your flight plan that you filed contains a SID, then yes, no matter what your present heading is, when you are instructed to "continue as filed" you proceed to your next waypoint in the flight plan you filed and resume your planned route.
