I suggest a geforce 1080 gtx. Preferable because of the 8 GB VRAM.

You risk running out of VRAM with the 780.

It also depends on your CPU. P3d v4 heavily taxes the CPU. More than p3d v3 or fsx ever did.

I still have the 780Ti in my "other" computer, and think it is an excellent video card that I used up to a little over a year ago with P3Dv2.5 and v3.2 (I think).  The 2GB of VRAM is the minimum per LM system requirements on their web site, and will work.  If the card uses up the VRAM it will simply start using RAM and since we now have 64b memory addressing it's not as bad as it sounds.  Sure, having more VRAM is nice to have but it depends on your budget.

My lowly 750Ti card is running P3D surprisingly well, no stuttering at all, with 2xMSAA and 16x Anisotropic.. in most cases around 30-40fps. It is basically double the FPS I was getting in FSX with the same scenery/aircraft and also with higher slider settings.

It is definitely not optimal as a card for P3D, but it's running great for what it is.

Thanks for replies looks like a 1080ti then or I might see what the AMD vega is all about.

I currently have an FX8350 @4.8GHZ and it runs p3d v3 very well but its about time for an upgrade its just knowing what to do AMD or INTEL.

If you run out of VRam you will for sure encounter stutters, so get a video card with as much vram as you budget permits.

Sorry budy, it just doesn't work that way.

If a video card runs out for vram, it will slow down because it does not have enough space to load/store textures, you will encounter stutters and hence low fps

Good to know. I have the same card and it does a great job in DCS 64bit so I will hang onto it when I get v4

Although Prepar3d is not for me, I tried v4 vanilla (no addons) with a 970 4gb with high settings and it worked just fine, very smooth.
