February 27, 200620 yr For comparison I attach a screen shot from almost the same place and height using VFR Photographic Scenery and Terrain (although the latter won't make much difference in this view). The lake and the airfield to the south of it give common reference points.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/143601.jpgI've reduced the size and resolution to comply with the Forum's requirements. February 27, 200620 yr There's a freeware UK landclass version 2 uk_lc_v2.zip at flightsim.com which is just as good. I've been using this stuff for ages. February 27, 200620 yr Yes, the UK from the air in Winter is not brown! It is at it's most brown when the grass is parched at the backend of Summer. Something that FSscene did get right.

February 27, 200620 yr Hello RayIf you need anymore shots let me know.I have only been flying around with GE for a day or two but i feel it is better than Bev or FScene for the UK and at the price for worldwide coverage for 5 seasons it is a bargain.I had a flight from plockton heading north today and with MYworld landclass scotland was a lot better, much less farmland which is correct as anyone who has been to northern scotland will vouch that moorland is a better match.Ray Taburet has a UK landclass V2 (over at the other site) which is also good, to be honest i could not see much difference to MYworld.I am just glad to get rid of the totally unrealistic all over brown tiles.BEV europe is still a way off, FScene if you have any knowledge of how FS9 uses textures is plainly a total rip off and should be referred to the trading standards office IMHO. So on that basis GE is the way to go.
February 27, 200620 yr Author Moderator Hi Adverse,Maybe Microsoft had a preminition and they are a window into the future? ;-)Up here in the grim North (south of Manchester) the grass is still green. I think H*ll would freeze over before it stopped raining in Manchester :-)Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). February 27, 200620 yr Author Moderator Hi Mad Dog,Thanks for the background and screenshots. The Blackpool / Fylde Coast one looks most impressive. I may have to put Concorde and my 737NG fleet to bed for a while and savour the delights of England from 3000ft.I've downloaded the uk landclass file from flightsim and I'll install that and buy GE very soon. I've downloaded the EXE, I just need to install it.Unfortunately I'm still busy with Radar Contact 4. I could do with a break from work just to keep up with all this! Many thanks, Ray (Cheshire, England).
