February 28, 200620 yr Just looking fo an honest opinion about the PSS 777. Is the aircraft worth the purchase? I have all of the PMDG aircraft and Level D 767 and just from a techie stand point wondering if this is worth it. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.Jetstar
February 28, 200620 yr It is not up to the standards of PMDG or Level-D. It could be half decent but the way it came out it was pretty sorry as far as flight dynamics FOR ME was concerned. They have been working on a patch for a few months. I hope that taking this long they will have things pretty well straightened out. Anyway if I were you I would wait until it is patched. I currently have not installed it on my new computer and will wait until the patch is out.Hope this helps Andrew
February 28, 200620 yr One of the worst flight models Ive ever flown. Cannot beleive it was released as is. Everything else is good. Mine has been hangered for weeks and until a patch comes out will stay there.
February 28, 200620 yr I don't think it's bad as people are saying here. I actually like the bird. It has a great VC and external model as well as many free liveries. Some complain about the FDE but like most other add-ons on their first go around, a patch is underway. I don't think anyone here has actual time in the real 777 for FDE comments to hold any weight.
February 28, 200620 yr I've had no problems with it. I quite like it. Great panel and electronic checklists. Flies fine for me. Good audio. As stated though, it's not on the level D "level". February 28, 200620 yr I agree with Chris, it really isn't that bad as some people say. The panel is beautifully done and even though the exterior model isn't top notch, it's still acceptable.FDE isn't perfect either, but it's still flyable (for me at least).
February 28, 200620 yr I agree that this is a very nice plane to fly, and I have completed several flights without problems. In terms of systems simulation it is not as complex as PMDG/LevelD, but it has a lot of potential.I too hope that the promised patch will improve this product to be even better, as I understand thety are making significant revisions to the flight model. February 28, 200620 yr great here, i've had non of the problems other talk of, but then i only have the frieght model, very cheap when compared to the other big jets, especially if you take advantage of the many free repaints instead of buying the official ones. with the cargo version the amount of gargo seen in the holds is directly related to the load in the load manager, the VC is fantastic and up with the best, the integrated weather radar is still unique AFAIK, the auto trim works great aswell. I am well pleased with it and i do own big jets from many of the others players in the market.
February 28, 200620 yr To those who are unhappy with the FDE, can you say what the problems are because I'm interested in buying so it would be helpful to know. Thanks
February 28, 200620 yr great here as well - for me it's a very nice 777 experience indeed. Not LDS or PMDG level in terms of subsystems, but a sweet and classy longhaul ride with some bright high end sparkles.Cannot speak to the fde - I just fly the thing on climbout and approach and it feels ok to me as an armchair jockey, and taxies beautifully btw. regards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
February 28, 200620 yr Jennifer,I own the 200LR:There is the issue of erratic a/p behaviour in some pitch modes like sudden pitching at alt capture - this was unofficially cured by a PSS user - a tweak to a particular ini file. I assume that will be formalized in the patch. This seems to be an a/p, not fde fault. The 300ER is said by some to porpoise at cruise.I've heard the fde described as 'fighter like'. I find it very responsive under manual control - not twitchy, but responsive. Perhaps some persons expect more inertia? Others say the T7 IS responsive. I find it responds nicely to smooth input but I'm just an armchair pilot so maybe they're right. As has been said, the fde is being revised for the patch. To be honest I just bought the PMDG 744 and was surprised at how unforgiving this fde is - still learning it but THIS bulldog is responsive :)regards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
February 28, 200620 yr Well not sure if I can comment on the FDE since Chris is saying people who dont have actual time in 777 should actually know how it flies. I will take a chance and comment that the problems I have are pitching up and down while in cruise with the AP engaged. When flying the localizer and glideslope the aircraft bobbles up and down. I also have when handflying is that it really pitches and banks very quickly. All these problems are compared to the 767 and 747 addons. Also these problems get worse when the aircraft burns off fuel and lightens up. I have flown quite a few flights with all three versions even doing the Hong Kong to London record flight twice. I have enjoyed flying it for the most part but I am holding off putting on my new computer until the patch is released, I think then it will be alot better. These opinions are based soley on my observations as a simmer and not a real world 777 pilot which I believe does entitle me to an opinion on how the FDE of a simulated aircraft behaves. Andrew
February 28, 200620 yr OK, thanks for the replies. I appreciate that it's impossible for non real world B777 pilots to judge, but it's still helpful to know how it compares with presumably accurate FDEs like the PMDG744 and LDS's 767. I must admit that the problems on approach after ILS capture are worrying. Still, if PSS can fix it I'll seriously consider purchasing the bird.
February 28, 200620 yr 777 is supposed to be quite agile, especially for an aircraft its size.Same for the 747, less so for the 767.I guess a lot of the people complaining it's too agile are old 767 PIC flyers who think that large==sluggish.
February 28, 200620 yr I was a real world pilot for 20 years and a sim pilot since the first games. Also own over 2 dozen upper end payware planes. However, one thing I learned is its usually impossible to win a argument in any forum and especially when expressing opinions on "realism" .So take the good and the bad and the truth is somewhere in the middle.I bought this plane to use with fspassengers. This was to be my fly by the book, really try hard to be as close to real life operations as possible plane. The plane just does not feel right. The roll rate feels notchy on my Saitec x52.When I initiate a turn its like nothing happens, nothing happens then bam, the plane falls over. There is no tactile feedback for me. The AP is just as abrupt especially on pitch. When a climb command is given, the plane abruptly pitches up sure to sicken and scare the virtual passengers. During cruise I have has simular problems as others. The gradual up and down rollercoaster which time accelration worsens. I have tried some of the edits from their forums to help this problem but then the plane would not catch my preset altitude but blow through it and then go into a never ending cycle of pitch up/down to catch it.However, all someone has to say is, "He isnt a real 777 pilot" and none of the above means squat. But you do not have to be a RW 777 pilot or any pilot to know when a plane does not behave correctly. Im not talking about stall speeds, roll rates, rate of climbs but that "something is not right" that does not require a aeronautical degree to figure out.But hey, who am I to judge right. So I suggest go ahead and buy it and then you can post your opinions. And if the plane doesnt feel right to you, join the rest of us and wait for the patch.
