Capture Screen Shot

Recommended Posts

Since I have been running P3Dv4, I haven't been able to save a screen capture.  The 'V' key is set as the capture key, there is a P3Dv4 folder in my pictures folder.  I don't know where to go to direct the captures to that folder.  I searched drives and there doesn't seem to be any captures from P3Dv4any where else that I can find.  Any help, something simple?  I hope so.   Thanks.

Hi Bill, the V key saves to the Pictures\prepar3d V4 Files folder ...also in the SIM Menu>Options>Application there is a dropdown to select the screenshot format , jpeg , bmp etc...

Thanks Jorge.  I have the format selected for jpeg and the folder is there but there aren't any pictures in the folder.  That is the problem, everything appears to be as it should be, but no pictures.

You may have to check your key assignments. The V key may not be assigned.

Thanks Bill.  I have checked the key assignment and the 'V' key is assigned as Capture Screen Shot.  I might try assigning it to another key and see what happens.  I did delete the 'V' assignment once and reassigned ti to see if it would take.  No joy.

Can't figure out what is causing the problem, but at this point I would delete the Prepar3D.cfg file restart sim and let it build a new one.

Are all other key assignments working?

I guess that I will give that a go Bill.  The other key assignments are working.

If that doesn't work -  go here:

%APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\Controls\Standard.xml

and rename standarrd.xml to something else. Start p3d and it should recreate the standard key assignments. You will lose any custom assignments you have made.

Make sure you are looking in the pictures folder under your User name.  If you have other users on your computer, they each have their own Pictures folder.  But think others are right on above who think there is a problem with your V key assignment.

Best regards,

Jim

I am looking in my user folder and anywhere else that they could be hiding.   One thing that I have also notice is that there is no slight pause when I try to take a screen shot.  I also assigned a joystick button to that function and no go there either.

Thank you Ahmet, Jim and Vic.

When I clicked on "Print Screen" key,  I have to go  "Irfan View 64" software" to capture the picture.

Do you have "Irfan View 64" ?

I don't have that software.  I never had a problem in FSX SE and this should work the same.  I'll keep at it.
