March 6, 200620 yr Try unzipping the Canarias files into a temporary folder away from your FS9 folder. March 6, 200620 yr Do you have administrator rights in Windows and are you logged in as administrator?Jozef K. http://homepages.onsnet.nu/~jkusters/signature.jpg
March 7, 200620 yr I have a different problem while installing Project Canarias.I think I have followed the instructions properly but... On my first attempt, I encountered a "file not found" error 2/3 into the Scenery Manager activity. Then I restarted the whole process and I get that error right at the beginning - during "Checking your LOD/mesh settings".I have decompressed the 3 zip files into a folder not on the FS9 root disk - is that a problem? Interestingly, I have not been asked to give the path to FS9 so the installer must have found it by itself. Thanks for your help!Phil
March 7, 200620 yr Hi guys,Some facts:I do have full administrator rights.I have plenty of harddiskspace.I unzipped the three zipfiles into one folder. After executing PROJCA_2006_v10.exe everthing looks to go well , a new exe PROJCA_2006.EXE is created end executed .THEN trouble starts, first I got a message the path FS9 directory could not been found in the register, and I was asked to point to the path.Due to en reinstall of FS9 (FROM BACKUP) there was no FS9 exe path in the register. After doing that there were messages telling me the programm was NOT ABLE TO CREATE several folders etc.I contacted the creator of the scenery and he advised me to reinstall and install FS9 completely , wich I did.Now the Fs9 path is in the register and during the installation the path is not asked for, but after having found the path , I get the same messages of NOT ABLE TO CREATE several folders.Still looking for the solution.RegardsLeen de Jager
March 7, 200620 yr I think your hard disc is FAT32. They have a limit how many files can be put into a folder. This scenery exceeds that limit by far.So... if that's the case, your only option is to change it into NTFS. That is a piece of cake and can be done without formatting. (Changing from NTFS to FAT32 requires formatting.)You can do that in DOS, just search MS help (F1) for "convert to NTFS" to find out the steps.FAT32 is now obsolete. It still can be found on some new machines only because up untill recently it wasn't possible to create a backup image with Ghost on NTFS w/DOS.http://www.fspassengers.com/images/banner/sig/sdc8.jpg
March 7, 200620 yr Sorry.. (I hope you did check it -r. click on drive - properties)Really pitty, cause it's a gem!I have recently messed up my pc. As you can guess, that upset me pretty much and I've tryed all possible things to bring it vback in order. Yesterday I saw this review on Avsim: http://www.avsim.com/pages/0306/FSGS/fsgs.htm and decided to give it a shot. Maybe you can do hat too; not only this "minor issue" will be fixed, but your PC will be in perfect shape for years to come !?http://www.fspassengers.com/images/banner/sig/sdc8.jpg
March 7, 200620 yr Hi Fruitfly, did your mother really namend you like that :)I did not check it myself , I just asked my personal system-manager.Alltough he`s a sofware-engeneer himself and quiet experienced in stuff like this , he`s puzzled too.RegardsLeen
March 7, 200620 yr >Hi Fruitfly, did your mother really namend you like that :)>>:)Throughout whole history nations were identifying themselves with various bloodthirsty beasts - for instance: Chinese dragon, Russian bear, Amnerican eagle, British lion...Well.. I identify myself with the only animal that actually LIKES VINE! ;) Beside, fruitfly itself has a very cool name: Drosophila Melanogaster!Ha! Isn't that a mouthfull? Sounds more like an old Latin professor than a vinethirsty beast!;)http://www.fspassengers.com/images/banner/sig/sdc8.jpg
April 19, 200620 yr Hi,What is the EXACT message you get? This could be something related to national characters and/or spaces in the folder path name.BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
