Someone with C550 v2 test this

Featured Replies

I did a mod for the Carenado C550 version 2 - can someone test to make sure it works before I post in main thread on mods? Oh edit, if it's not obvious you must first run the F1 GTN exe file within the Carenado s550 directory

Hi Ryan, this is looking very nice! I'm hoping you are having a good time flying the Reality XP GTN Touch!

Hi Ryan,

Tempted by this - PIREP on the 550 (since we seem to agree on a lot) ?

Regards,

Scott

I’ve just flown 60 mins in C550 on Pilotedge. It really is very nice now.

Cant get HSI arc showing?

Does weather radar work?

Scott I haven't flown it much in version 4. I just got online last night and was interested in getting the Legacy v2 with rxp GTN's working first.

Speaking of PIloteEdge, our GTN for X-Plane also links the TX and RX flags, but I can't get a hold on Keith for months so as to implement the same in the FltSim version of the GNS and GTN. If any one has some ideas about this, they are most welcome!

Hi Dean,

I've opened tickets multiple times with Carenado requesting REX/MilViz Wx Radar Compatibility - as I think it's the best Wx Radar we currently have - if you have it - suggest doing same - as it would really up their game... I'd really like to see it replace that Avadyne they like using in so many planes...

Hi Ryan,

OK - thanks - understand...

Oh shoot I forgot something - I haven't figured out how to activate the Direct To and Home keys along with the frequency knobs on the 3d model in the VC. I'm guessing that's where the default GPS commands thing comes in - still need to monkey with that.

Ryan, you may start looking into this thread where Bert is showing off a very nice idea to intercept 3D model events and convert them to native GPS key events, which in turn our GTN/GNS V2 can catch with the "Use Simulator GPS Commands":

It consists in editing an XML gauge that just realizes a bridge.

Ok I've got a WIP xml file going... after creating the new file in the Panel folder of the acft (I'm starting with the Realair Legacy v2), I added the usesimGPScommands = true statement. Do I still need to create a gauge line in the panel.cfg? If I do, I don't understand how to properly name the gauge.

Basically you may name the gauge what you want, and for it to be loaded and executed by FS, you need to add a gauge line in the panel.cfg file for it. I'd guess you need to add it in the VC section where you also put the gauge line for the GTN.

Like Bert has posted, here is an excerpt of his panel.cfg file:

[VCockpit02]

gauge01=rxpGNS2!GNS_530_1, 0,87,512,312
gauge02=btsRV7!gtx327V4,                     0,399,512,113
gauge03=CustomRV7!GNS_Buttons, 0,0,1,1 <------- this is the XML gauge

Ok I see that now in Bert's thread... I missed the naming convention before. I emailed him as well - I'm trying to see how he found the variables to edit (not the ones in the RXP manual, but the name of the variables like L:530_DTO,Bool. Would this be called L:750_DTO,Bool in the GTN? I'm not sure where to find that info.

These are the name given by the aircraft modeler and these are found in the aircraft XML gauges or model. AFAIK, the model trigger an event, an XML gauge receives the event and set a local variable (L: var). Bert's gauge then work in converting the value set in the L: var to trigger a standard simulator GPS event.

Ok I'm working with Bert via email and I've also emailed Rob young from Realair. I'm just not sure what VAR I need to read. Neither I nor Bert know the GTN L VAR's. Confirm that this info would come from Realair right? It would NOT come from Flight1 correct? Let me put this to pictures as well. This is the Legacy v2 I'm using in P3D v4.

Here I've used the Realair config app to set the F1 GTN 750's in dual format. Forget about GTN750 #2 for the moment. I'm just trying to get the DTO button press circled in blue to work. I've extracted a lengthy xml file from realair's panel.cab file. Inside I found (after a search) a DTO variable that might be it. The thing is, this xml file is called RAS_gps_500.xml. So is it pointless to look in this file because it only describes variables for the default GPS500 model if I had that in the Legacy INSTEAD of the dual GTN's?

Anyway a few lines from the extracted RAS_gps_500.xml:

(L:mdlDTOButton,bool)
				if{
					0 (>L:mdlDTOButton,bool)
					1 (>@g:directButtonDown)
					@DTOButton
				}

These lines were under a comment calling this macro "DTOButton" So I assume this is the GPS500 button logic.

I've then changed the VAR on my xml gauge so the lines read:

(L:mdlDTOButton,Bool) if{
   0 (>K:GPS_DIRECTTO_BUTTON)
   0 (>L:mdlDTOButton) }

This doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas?

Bert is brilliant... he's a big help here!

I've got the HOME and DirectTO buttons working. Not sure on the knobs yet. But the unit is pretty much functional with the DTO button on the bezel! I rarely use the 3d knobs anyway.

I'll make a new xml file and add to the thread and also get this Citation working too hopefully.

EDIT: Got the dto and home 3d buttons working on the Citation now WOOHOO!
