CPU and texture resolution in V4

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I saw a thread but cannot find it that was explaining the benefits changing ground resolution from 7cm to 1m?

Offcause this is not in ORBX world related

Thanks Michael Moe

Think this may be what you saw ref CPU Load, interesting.

When I increase texture resolution to 1m it is less demanding for the GPU (GTX 970), it does not make noticeable difference for the CPU (i7 4970k at 4.4GHz). I use 60cm because I get stutters when going to 7cm.

If I observe CPU core loading in Windows Task Manager, I see a big difference between 1 m and 7 cm resolution.

But, the photo real textures near airports (like parking lots) lose a great deal of detail with 1m resolution.. so, as so often, it is a trade-off.  Luckily, you can change this in the simulator, so flying with 1m resolution until you come to a spot where you would like the higher detail (if at all) works for me

BTW.. there are settings between 1 m and 7 cm

Yeah thanks,

I was fidling around with a flight EGKK-LEBL with high resolution textures on in my PMDG737 NGX with HT ON (which clearly makes full potiential of the CPU usuage (but also 80% more temps ) as the ground textures is so much better.

I do get stuttering which i blame my very high CPU temps( above 90c sometimes ) and if my VRAM exceeds 4GB (in EGKK - not in LEBL)

I did not noticed much different in CPU load between 7CM and 1M btw. Maybe it is situation related ?

Thanks

Something wrong there. Should not be that high.
