Installed these after uninstalling original purchase from last night.  I still have the issue of nothing showing on the screen.  I let the install place files to their default location per the installer but still no dice.  I am trying to get it working in the Alebeo C404.  I set the aircraft up for the F1 750 (which I do not have) just to set up the panel correctly and then replaced any instance of the F1 product with the rxp 750.  I see the rxp unit in the virtual cockpit and pop up but neither of them turn on.

I have my aircraft installed outside of the main P3D v4 folder and am wondering if that is causing problems.  I'm going to try a few things and see if I can make any progress.

OK, moved the aircraft to the P3D v4 folder, that did not help.  I checked the xml files and they seem to be written similar to my GNS v2 entries but no dice.  I loaded up an aircraft with the gns in it and that is still working fine.  I am now at a loss and not sure what to do next.  Help!

Hi Lou,

Did you install the Garmin Trainer software as well ?

Hi Scott, It installed when I ran the installation for the 750.  I uninstalled everything from the version I downloaded last night including the Garmin trainer and reinstalled this version today but still no good.  It does feel like the trainer isn't even running but I'm not sure what to do about that.  I'd try re-installing the 750 trainer if I knew where to download the install for it.

Hi Lou,

Yeah - I had a similar issue - black screen on the gauge - as I tried to use the F1 Garmin Trainer I had already installed - no joy... I fixed it by installing a second time and the RXP installer prompted me to install the Garmin software... Perhaps - just try uninstalling the Garmin Trainer software - then do the RXP install again and I would assume the installer would recognize that you have no trainer and prompt you again ? We're just brainstorming  here so - the other alternative is to see what Jean-Luc has to say...

Scott

OK, thanks Scott.  I have faith in you guys.  I think I purchased every RXP product there is/was since FS9 and have not been disappointed yet.  I'll try your suggestion and see if it works.

Hi Lou,

Yeah - thanks - me too... I bought the T and N line gauges - plus the GNS units multiple times... I didn’t buy the Apollo - I think that’s the only one I skipped... They definitely improved my FS experience - greately...

Scott

The apollos were actually pretty cool units.  I actually miss them.

So I tried your suggestions and noticed some weirdness that may help resolve this.  After the install of the Garmin trainer it launched by itself and I turned the power on, the TXI lit up but not the 750.

Hi Lou,

Yeah - I like some of the older instruments as well - I learned for real on a Northstar Loran and a Century I autopilot...

Sounds like progress...

Scott

Hi, I like the Apollo a lot, not only because it was the first RXP product, but also because it has (at the time) some kind of 'coolness' in FS. Now when compared to the GTN, even to the GNS V2... ;-)

As for the GTN, can you please cross check the content of the RXP log files (see User's Manual for file/path)?

@LouP it is the typical trainer boot sequence hang, aka 'black screen'.

The GTN v2.4.10 RC includes further adjustments to eliminate this problem which happens from time to time with few of our customers. We are not sure yet what exactly is the root cause, but we've eliminated much of the probable causes in v2.4.9 and v2.4.10.

Most of the time, cycling the power on/off to let the chance to reboot the trainer helps a lot. Usually after a couple tries it works. Otherwise, it might be a case were rebooting the computer and starting fresh helps. We can't eliminate the issue might be in the Garmin trainer code itself, and this what we're also trying to find out. We'll certainly issue a few more RC before official v2.4.10 release specifically to address this.

In his case, the trainer seems to not working stand alone also

Hi, this all point to the direction of a bug in the Garmin trainer code introduced around v6.11, which is when we've had the first black screen reports. We're continuing looking into this and analyzing the trainer code to further find the root cause.

Hi again,

Tried a few more things, added exclusions to Avast, Malwarebytes, and Windows Defender, no luck.  I did notice on the GTN lower left of the screen it says "starting".  I did not notice that before, however, it never really does start.

Should I just return the product until this gets worked out, I have no idea how "close" we really are.

Thanks,

LouP

Hi, the 'starting...' label is here to tell the unit is accepting the power on, is booting up, and the gauge is awaiting the trainer to initialize and finish its boot sequence.

This label is here to alert you it is running in the background, and to wait until it is booted up, because depending on the computer and the load, it might take more or less time during which you might think it has failed powering up.

It also displays a dark grey screen as a visual cue the gauge and the trainer are running. When we're confident about solving the 'black screen'/hanged trainer process issue you are describing, we'll remove the label but keep the dark grey screen.

Normally, once the boot sequence is over, it starts displaying the screen. Sometimes though, it is stuck in the boot sequence and logs out the 'Trainer Failed Task' message.

Have you tried turning avionics off/on a few times to try rebooting the device? (requires Power Source setting set accordingly) Otherwise you can also reboot the device in opening the settings panel and in changing the TCAD option for example.

We're working days and night literally on this issue, which the more we look at it, the more it resemble a bug in the Garmin code. We've eliminated probable causes from our code already particularly in v2.4.9 and v2.4.10 which have proved to cure this hang process problem for the customers who've reported being affected by this issue on their system.

It is unfortunate you are experiencing this on your system right now, and we're continuing working on this today and the days to come, until solved, even though this affects only few of our customers, because all-in-all, this seems to be the only remaining issue we are having with the product right now, and this doesn't reflect the level of quality of our products.

Hi Jean-Luc,

Been flying a bunch this weekend - all good on my end...

One bit of feedback - on the pop-up - could we get a means of closing the window like the GNS has ? Perhaps a click spot on the Reality XP logo ? Makes it easier than hunting around the VC again to close the window...

Regards,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Have you tried the popright = feature? It allows you to click anywhere in the gauge screen (not the bezel) to open and close VC & Popup. Also works with the GNS.

; left mouse button popup ident  (ex: GPS_PANEL or 225) (disables touchscreen when set).
popleft =
; right mouse button popup ident (ex: GPS_PANEL or 225).
popright =

Hi, it is included, and has been enhanced with v2.4.10.

@bills511 since your ini file was created prior v2.4.10, the settings comments weren't updated. Upon creating a fresh ini file, it now read:

; left mouse button on the screen toggles popup window by ident (ex: GPS_PANEL or 225) (requires SHIFT+left mouse button).
; right mouse button on the screen toggles popup window by ident (ex: GPS_PANEL or 225).

In oner words, clickleft= won't disable touchscreen now, and works with the SHIFT key depressed (popright= is a better option still as you only need 1 hand to toggle the popup, but at least, popleft= won't disable the screen if needed).

Tried a couple more things but still no dice.  I uninstalled the trainer and when I re-installed the GTN 750 to load the trainer back in I only selected the gtn 750 to install.  Also, my Avast asked if I trust the file and I said yes, but still no 750.  I switched the avionics on and off and changed selections in the options as suggested.  I'm at a loss.  Any more suggestions before I return the units?

Did you uninstall the Garmin trainer, the RXP GTN, or both? On which installer did you select the GTN 750 only?

Then, should you have the Garmin trainer installed, is it still blank by itself, that is when starting it with:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\Trainers\Launcher\Aviation_Trainer_Launcher.exe"

That is regardless of the RXP GTN in FltSim, is the trainer in itself at least running on your system?

I uninstalled and re-installed the trainer only, the gtn units several times with and without the trainer re-install, I reinstalled the 650 first one time and the 750 first another two times.  As I'm writng this I realized that I haven't tried to leave the garmin trainer and remove and re-install the 750 yet.  I am getting lost in how many combination of uninstall and re-install I've done now.

When I launch the trainer on it's own, the gtn unit is blank but the TXi trainer is working ok.

Let me try to recap the installation, it is very simple in fact:

1) The Garmin trainer installs only once as well for all device types.

2) The 750 and 650 e-commerce installers are needed to authenticate each product license.

2) The RXP software installer installs both the 750 and 650, it is the authenticated license which unlocks either or both, so installing this once is enough for all GTN gauges.

Before considering if there is a problem with the RXP software (the gauges), since the Garmin trainer is not running by itself, this means there is first and foremost a problem with the Garmin trainer on your system, and this should be addressed first.

When installing the Garmin trainer it shall leave installation log files in the temp folder, typically:

"C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\Temp"

otherwise in the folder where you run it from?
