Cannot find a reference for hydrogen pumps.  Did you search the FCOM?

He probably meant hydraulic pumps.

Hello,

This is driving me crazy. I started filling out the route FMC page for my flight on PMDG 737. I chose a SID, than i started to enter the waypoint and airways the flight planner gave me but i cant. it says INVALID ENTRY. Why? Maybe i am doing something wrong or what?

Than i watched a full tutorial flight on youtube and entered the sid and waypoints given in the video and it worked. Then i tried to get back to my flight a choose another route but it also says invalid entry. Help please.

Entries in the FMC are based on NAVDATA or navigation data.  If the waypoint is not shown in the NAVDATA, it will show an invalid entry.  Where are you getting your information to enter in the FMC?  From the Navlog?  There are many times I enter invalid data.  Sometimes, the FMC will tell me Invalid Data and I type the waypoint again and it again shows invalid data.  When I remove (delete) Invalid Data, I'll see the waypoints but then showing twice.  For instance I might enter LAX and invalid data shows up so I'll type LAX again and try again and get the same error.  When I remove Invalid Data error, I see LAXLAXLAX, etc.  So, make sure you enter the waypoint correctly and it can be seen in the area where you type in the waypoint.  The FMC will only enter what is there.

I am getting my information from a flight planner. I choose a random SID, than type in the first waypoint that the flight planner gives me and it says invalid entry, although I type it in correctly.

Problem with flight planners is that they might use newer navdata or from different sources.  It might also be the SID you randomly selected and the waypoint and airway may not be in the area and hundreds of miles in another direction.  The waypoint may also be already in the SID.

Can I upgrade the nav data in my FMC. Or do you know any flight planner which works? How do I know if the waypoint is in the SID or how can I choose the sid without ATC?

In the charts for the name of the SID or STAR.  For instance, look all the way down and you will see charts for KORD (Chicago) at this link - http://www.airnav.com/airport/KORD .  In Google, you can search for your airport and you will usually find the SID/STARS for the airport that you can download.

I use a program called ProATC-X but that costs money.  There is another professional flight planner that costs a lot of money too but is very good but just as complicated as learning how to fly (IMHO). The flight planner in FSX is okay too as it provides a flight plan that you can put into your FMC by printing the NAVLOG or, at the Gate you can go to the Menu and pull down the Navlog and put the information into your FMC.  You will still need to go to the Dep/Arr Page of the FMC and select the runway ATC has provided and, if they provide a SID, enter the SID.

Yes, but you do not have to.  Many of us use Navigraph FMS Data - https://www.navigraph.com/Default.aspx.  The price for a one year subscription is not too bad.  Again, the FMS data that comes with the PMDG products will work.  Some just want to have current data.

What if the first waypoint after the sid is actually hundreds of miles away?

That's your navdata.

Again, you have to look at the airport charts and see what sid/star is being used for the takeoff/landing runway.

Yes but it the FMC when I choose the runway in DEP ARR the SIDS get filtered out for a certain runway I choose automatically. Also when I was flying today in the fmc before even getting to the route page I got an FMC scratchpad message several times: “NAVDATA OUT OF DATE”. What does that mean and how can I fix that?

thank you.

You will see this nag forever unless you update the navdata as I suggested above at Navigraph.  Aerosoft in Europe also has a very similar program in Europe called NavDataPro.  Both are excellent.  But, again, it is not necessary to update the data.
