I am thinking of upgrading my GTX 960 for P3DV4.1. I am looking at the EVGA 1070 TI and the EVGA 1080. I know they are currently unavailable but I talked with EVGA today and they suggested that they would be very surprised if they were still unavailable 90 days from now. they are still in production. I am currently running 1 monitor at 1920x1080 resolution.

So what is your recommendation and why?

If you check benchmarks on the IN you will find that the 1080 is slightly better in performance.

However the 1070 Ti is little expensive , although the difference is not that much.

Hi Greg,

My new build is waiting on a video card... Same dilemma - even though the 1070 TI is almost 1080 from what I read - I’m going with the 1080 - as the specs quote a bit faster speed... Try Micro Center if you have one near you - they tend to have inventory when online retailers run out... I found they have really good prices and beat Amazon and New Egg on my CPU, Mobo, and memory...

Regards,

Scott

Follow this question, anyone know why currently seems price of GTX 1080 or 1070 has been skyrocket.

1080 as you can push it really nice.
Go to newegg if you;re in US, find the one you like and add notifications.
Once you get a email just run order and enjoy.
I got my card a week ago like this. They are constantly restocking them. Also price for me was nearly $40 less than 5 minutes after I completed the purchase.
I got this one. Stellar reviews and not bad price.
I sold my 970 G1 on ebay for nice price too. They are selling like hot cakes.

Cryptocurrency mining. I don't think they will go down in near future.

right now seems all 1080 are over $600 which was unreasonable. The crepocurrency issus has been long. Why recently so high.

Thanks guys! You confirmed what i was thinking. I will go with a 1080 when the inventory recovers.

Ti (the decent ones) sell for 850+.
I bought my 1080 SC for $545 with powerlink and free delivery. I can take that.

If you're planning to stay with a 1920x1080 monitor, the 1070 Ti will give you great performance and the 1080 card is not really worth the extra cost at that resolution. If you do decide to go for a 1080, make sure that you get one of the newer, 11Gbps cards with the faster memory. The standard 1080 is only a little faster than the 1070 Ti and probably not worth the extra money. Take a look here to see the relative performances: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/asus_geforce_gtx_1070_ti_strix_gaming_review,45.html

I think the price needs to be compared when the shortage is over. Currently the 1070 Ti and the 1080 are very similar in cost. I appreciate the comment on the resolution.
