Weather issues in FSX

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am having difficulty getting FSX to generate the correct weather. every time i fly from FAOR to FACT FSX will always have the wind show in my PMDG at 276 degrees. FSXWX shows different at 170 degrees which is the correct wind direction..the FSXWX is more realistic as i can see aircraft from where i live and they were landing on runway 19 however on my PMDG the wind direction shows 270 degrees which is OK for runway 01. I'm not sure if it is FSX or PMDG. also i see AI landing and departing off on runway 01.

The real weather in FSX doesn't update the servers from time to time.  That has been going on

for several many years.  Use what makes you the happiest.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱

Yes, the stock MS real weather is not really real-time weather.  For real weather you really need a third party weather engine.  Now when it comes to active runway assignment, I have found that FSX is a bit funky and does not always activate the runway that would be the most logical with a given wind direction.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

I can highly recommend getting one of the third party weather engines / weather textures. I didn't do this until about 18 months ago but I regret not installing these years earlier as the difference they made to the appearance of FSX and degree of immersion when flying compared to using stock FSX weather was immense!
