February 23, 20188 yr Here is a link to another document with some useful information on AP function etc to supplement the somewhat meagre Carenado documentation: www.smartcockpit.com/docs/Fokker_50-Automatic_Flight_Control_System.pdf Bill
February 25, 20188 yr Thanks for the link indeed. The website has all kind of useful info on the Fokker 50. Great. One thing that I noticed regarding the AP is that when I select LNAV mode also the NAV mode is automatically selected. Disabling the NAV mode while leaving the LNAV mode on, causes the plane to no longer follow the FMS flight plan. I doubt whether this is correct. Best regards, Henry
February 25, 20188 yr Author Hi Henry, I have to admit I have only done a few short flights in the Fokker 50 using the Carenado Universal FMS to test the system but, as I found it a bit limited and temperamental, I have reverted to using the GTN. I know this does not quite mirror the real world Fokker but it performs the LNAV functions more reliably and although the GTN does not have VNAV capability, the VNAV function on the Carenado FMS leaves a lot to be desired anyway. I also noticed that disabling the NAV mode while leaving the LNAV mode on causes problems which seems odd as I would have thought that LNAV function being lead by the FMS would be independent of NAV function. Maybe this is a bug in this product but I personally don't know enough about the Universal FMS to be sure of this. Bill
February 25, 20188 yr Hi Bill, Thanks. The information from the AFCS mentions nothing regarding the need to have NAV on as well. I really think this is wrong. Just a minor bug and definitely something one can live with, but probably quite easy to correct. Best regards, Henry
