Cellphone caused engine flameout in fs9?!?

Featured Replies

Weird thing!I was flying a NWA flight from KLAS to KDTW with a PSS A319.As i reached cruise altitude i received a sms message on my cellphone and my engines flamed out. The cellphone was laying next to my CH throttle quadrant. I started the APU and got the engines running again. I figured it happened due to the center tank being empty andtherefore the engines flamed out. As i reached FL340 again i got a new sms message and same thing happened again.. just as i received the sms the engines flamed out again.. what a weird coincidence:-) i got a friend of mine to come in to my room and send me a sms again to see if this really was possible. As i received the sms message he sent nothing happened.. i guess it was just a weird coincidence!now i know why cellphones must be turned off during flight;-)but this kind of flameout has never occured on the PSS or any other aircraft in flightsim before, so i was wondering if this might be a FS bug.. it was just very strange.. anyone who knows what might have caused engine flameout twice?Yngve

Your high cellphone has usage has obviously created a large brain tumor in your head, the effects of which manifest themselves as imaginary "engine flameouts" on an already imaginary aircraft. Cellphones (and SMS messages in particular) have been known to cause brain tumors in laboratory rats, insects, and flightsimmers (especially Airbus flyers). Please discontinue cellphone use immediately or you will continue to experience strange flightsim anomalies.Extended cellphone usage and related brain tumors have also been a major cause of delusion amongst flightsimmers that their current computer system will handle the next iteration of Microsoft Flight Simulator (FSX). Again, discontinuing cellphone use will help to avoid brain damage and further delusional thinking.

poor shielding on the CH.Demonstration... turn on the backlight on the phone so you can see the signal strength... put in microwave (do not turn on!) close door... signal should disappear on phone. shield on microwave works... shielding in action.... :)My cell causes my speakers to wig out. The signal strength of both the cell network transmitters and the phones are kinda scary.I'm pretty darn certain somebody's wireless phone near by in my building causes my mouse to stop working.I keep the cell at least 8 feet from my comp.CheersShad

The show Mythbusters actually did a test to see if cell phones can effect NAV instruments in planes. They succeeded in messing up an exposed VOR intrument in a controlled room (made the needle go crazy), but failed when it came to a real plane (because real planes have shielded wiring installed).Your story was pretty interesting...never knew it can effect a SIM too! haha..-feng

Weird or not, but if I have my GSM (cell Phone) with me while I am working on my computer, its ringing is first announced by my computer with a weird noise in the speakers, next my phone starts to ring!Hugo

First, it was the tobacco industry forgetting to mention to consumers that their product actually caused death.Today's 'hidden secret' is the damage cellphones do to your head. Why tell people, when the things are selling like hotcakes? In about ten years, everybody's heads will explode on the 9:18 from Paddington. Well, at least the carriage will be quiet ...MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a]

sigh, another conspiracy theorist...not hindered by any understanding of physics or biology they make wild sweeping statements to scare people.

seriously! I i can not imagine that the cellphone is to blame for it, but then again, On my CH throttle quadrant i use to levers for mix, or in the PSS A320 and PMDG 737 it becomes the fuel cutoff on the pedestal in the respective aircrafts.Could it be possible that the cellphone could trigger a signal affecting the CH throttle quadrants MIX levers making the engines cut off?I guess not, but i just cant understand why the engines flamed out twice during the same flight. I know it is not a PSS bug because it has never happened before in the almost 2 years i`ve had the PSS A320. So i figured maybe it was an fs bug, but i dont know!

do you have any wireless devices attached to your computer? in theory if you do, then it could well have sent a command or something to FS...

Considering the loud buzzing in the speakers on my computer and in my car, I imagine it could send strange electrical pulses into the wires of your CH throttle. I've personally never experiences it tweaking with any of my CH controllers though. I don't have the Throttle Quadrant though.----------------------------------------------------------------John MorganReal World: KGEG, UND Aerospace Spokane Satillite, Private ASEL 141.2 hrs, 314 landings, 46 inst. apprs.Virtual: MSFS 2004"There is a feeling about an airport that no other piece of ground can have. well it was not a bad message.. :-)I know its kinda off topic, but this whole cellphone thing got me curious, so i`ve read a bunch of articles written by scientists and people working in the health sector about the effect cellphone usage have on us.In all of the articles they expressed a great concern. Tests show that on average 70 percent of the EMP, or the beams goes directly in to youre head, while the rest is used for communication.People have gotten warm on their ears by talking in cellphones for a certain amount of time. I`ve experienced it myself after talking an hour on the cell. It has been proven that talking in youre cellphone for more than two hours a day can cause nausea and head aches. When you think about it, cellphones do send out a great amount of beams. Maybe it did affect my computer, it would not surprise me!!

The only wireless device i have is a D-link AirPlus hub to connect me to the web. I`ve been living in a dorm this year so its been alot of trouble with it and i have no other choice if i want to be online:-( So i stick to faithful USB and analogue connections as much as i can. Yngve
