Advice from XP Users

Featured Replies

I already spent a lot of money on flight simulation, most recently P3D. As I'm trying to get everything installed and tuned properly, I find myself getting very

agitated with Prepar3d. It seems that when a new update comes out, I must constantly wait for compatibility updates to various amounts of software that I

have purchased. So my question is if this happens in X-Plane. This is starting to get so frustrating that I am ready to abandon P3D altogether if I don't have

to constantly go thru this. Then to make matters worse, I am sure they will jump to a new version altogether in due time, rendering everything basically useless

unless I pay for more upgrades and new sim from LM.

Thanks,

Ryan Mann

Why the urgency to update to the newest version?

I am still on V4.0. and happy there..

No one is forcing you to update anything if  you have a properly working system

This is how it is with just about everything including life in general - growing pains. Windows is no different, games getting updates, a new job, moving, a new child, everything changes.

The majority of add-on developers are just as eager to get us back up and running upon new version releases.

I'm running 4.2 and had to wait a couple weeks for a couple of fixes here and there, but the 20 or so P3Dv 4.2 add-ons I have, all work fine.

And yes this happens to XP too.

I have been doing this (spending money and waiting) for about 30 years and loving it, because it gets more and more real as the years go by....big picture.

When it comes to updates for just about anything, I tend to delay installation until the bugs are worked out.  Yes, that means always being one or two steps behind the rest of the world, but being the first in line is not always the best place to be.
