PNW – Apples, Airplanes, & Pie

PNW – Apples, Airplanes, & Pie

This week’s tour starts in the apple capital of Washington State; Yakima (KYKM). Heading north we stop at Ellensburg (KELN), Cle Elum (S93), then over Snoqualmie Pass to Fall City (1WA6).  The route then turns north to Harvey Field (S43) and then a short hop over to Snohomish County (KPAE) where a local aircraft company has located an airplane assembly operation.  We will checkout the ramp to see what’s in progress before heading south flying over Seattle.  We will overfly King County International Airport where a local aircraft company has flight test facilities to land at Renton where a local aircraft company manufactures airplanes.  Departing Renton we continue south to land at Auburn (S50), then fly directly over Seattle Seatac (KSEA) to Vashon Island.  After landing at Vashon Municipal (2S1) we will proceed to to Wax Orchards (WA69) for a touch and go, then head west to the head of Lake Cushman for a landing at Bear Gulch(WA38).   We regroup at Cushman Meadows (KCMW) before the final legs which will take around Grays Harbor for touch and go’s at Ocean Shores(W04) and Westport(14S),  and finally finishing at Bowerman Field (KHQM).  Taxi to the ramp near Lana’s Café where we will enjoy a cup of coffee and fresh pie.

The route is 279nm, with 15 or so landings (or touch and go’s) so a speedy sport plane like the Vans RV7 or Lancair Legacy is recommended, but as always, fly what you like.

1800 UDT,🕖 got it! I DO want others to enjoy the multiplayer experience so I've provided all the required info on the relevant site.

How do I get the RV7?...and Ron/Gunter, is the Orbx Lancair compatible with P3Dv4.1?

Yes, the ORBX Lancair works in P3Dv4, just make sure to get all files in their relevant folders. And there is one file missing, I forget which one....maybe Ron remembers.

I would appreciate some help to be able to fly tonight:

I installed the Demo of Drzewiecki's Seattle X. Looks ok but make my sim unflyable, even with lowest settings I get only about 8 FPS and heavy stutters.

I then tried to uninstall this demo, but that doesn't work at all. In Drzewiecki's forum it is said that one should just run the installer again, uncheck all boxes and the product is gone. That is not true. It stays and generates all kinds of elevation problems, that cannot be corrected with the ORBX Vector tool.

The scenery cannot be unloaded, because it greyed out in the scenery library.

Deleting it manually generates a CTD while loading P3DV4. Deleting the entry from the scenery_add-ons.xml is not possible, the entry is rewritten every time I start P3DV4 again.

So, I cannot fly in the Seattle Area with the Demo installed and cannot get rid of it.

I assume, that deleting the entry from the scenery_add-ons.xml would help, but how do I have to do that?

I open the file with Notepad++, delete the entry and save it. It does not save the change. Is there another way (or another program) to edit that xml?

Thanks!!!

RV7 mods The RV7 can be downloaded/bought(?) from Bay Tower.ca

The IV-P file is HERE and it goes in the gauges folder(let it overwrite)

I think that's all.

Gunter, just start your sim and remove/delete the scenery from the Scenery Library.

The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

To get rid of the scenery, the file you need to modify is add-ons.cfg, which should be found in this location:

C:\Users\xxxxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

It's not an XML so you can edit using Notepad or any text editor. Look for the below block, delete it and resave. Before restarting the sim, remove the add-on.xml file from the Seattle demo folder (or delete the whole folder) at the same time, just so it can't be read again by the simulator when it restarts.

[Package.xx]
PATH=...\Seattle X DEMO
ACTIVE=true
REQUIRED=false

Let me know if that fixes it for you.

And no problem post would be complete without someone saying .....  "it works fine for me" !!😛

Thanks Nick, I‘ll give it a try later. Right now I‘m driving around for my granddaughter....

@Ron: That doesn‘t work, the relevant entry is greyed out, can‘t do anything with it.

Gunter,

Start P3D, load into you default start scenario, then go to Options:Addons, and if Seattle X shows up, deselect it. Go to World:Scenery library, select the checkbox for "Empty scenery cache on exit and click Okay, and P3D will rebuild the scenery indexes.

Did you delete the Seattle X directory here: C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Addon Scenery...if not, delete it

And did you delete the Seattle X directory here: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons...if not, delete it

Have you tried Lorby's Addon Organizer? It's free, and I think it will help with you problem.

http://www.lorby-si.com/downloads.html

In Addon Organizer, if Seattle X shows up under the scenery tab, click on "Delete Scenery" button.

Gunter,

If you still have problem, we could jump on TeamSpeak and get it solved. I'll be leaving shortly, but will return an hour or so before flight time.

Gunter,
Just another suggestion.
When you uninstall the DD Seattle X, you might check the "Prepar3D v4/Scenery/World/Scenery" folder for any leftover *.bgl files. (In my setup, with the payware Seattle X currently installed, I see two candidates for your attention: "Snohomish Co KPAE_ARP.BGL" and "Renton Mun KRNT_ARP.bgl". There may be others (?).)
