June 29, 200619 yr Author Hm...I don't know, but the fonts look really odd, the color scheme looks a little weird and there is no FMC. However, I love the reflections and it probably looks much better full-screen. For a little bit more, I can have the full PMDG deal (which I already have) with FMC, excellent exterior models and load planner. I know, i know - don't jump on me for the early criticm. For people who don't want to spend all that money on the PMDG, it is surely a great and relatively inexpensive panel.Pat
June 29, 200619 yr It's a GORGEOUS, featureful piece of work, a must buy for all uninfected 737NG lovers. Sadly I am so far gone now :-bla that I could not reconcile the lack of an fmc, a vc, and the total integration of the modelled systems with a top notch (bundled) external model, plus load mgr/fuel planner etc etc. Not Kevin's fault of course, the man set out to make a panel only.Level D's fault - they were my first contact with the 'total package' virus :-hah regards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
June 29, 200619 yr I've owned the SD 737NGpanel since July of last year and love it. I was very eagerly awaiting Kevin's updgrade and finally downloaded it last night. Sadly, v3.0 absolutely crushes my system. To give you an idea of my sys specs: P2.4, 1GB RAM, 6600GT. It's a beautiful panel and very complex but my motherboard about spit the CPU across the room last night. Load time was several minutes from the "create a flight screen." FS would pause intially for close to 10 secs while changing to the overhead. My system is far from ancient and I'm able to run complex add's-on fairly well at medium to 3/4 slider setting (Aeroworx B200, MD-88 from Eaglesoft) all the while runnign AS6 and TrackIR3 in the background. But last night I've never seen my system ground to an absolute halt. FPS dropped over 10 frames from v2.2 to v3.0. I have Flytampa' KSEA and normally get 17.5 - 19.9 FPS there (locked at 20. V3.0 brought my system down to 10.5 at the same slider settings and 0% traffic. I can only imagine what running VATSIM and AS6 would do. Again, Kevin's work is stunning and he has a real winner here, but in the end I've had to revert back to v2.2 because my system just can't handle it. Blake
June 29, 200619 yr Author Wow, your system 'should' be handle it without any problems. A 10fps drop certainly doesn't seem right inbetween versions. A 2.4GHz CPU is far from ancient, maybe lower middle-class, but, yea, that seems odd.
June 29, 200619 yr Aerdt,Yeah, I was very disappointed after waiting for the v3.0 panel for so long. I went and checked all the configs and rechecked everything. Heck, my Aeroworx B200 gets 16.5 FPS at Flytampa's KSEA in the VC while taking off (EFIS version), and that's a full package. This is just a panel. :-hmmm I tried using compact and full mode, turning off the reflections, turning off the yoke, but to no avail. The lowest FPS I got was 9.5 with 0% traffic and clear skies. This is no means a knock against Kevin, as I still love my v2.2 737NG panel mated with the Kittyhawk 737-800 and freeware sound package.Just frustrated as my system should be perfectly capable of running the new panel. Blake
June 29, 200619 yr Author I am not sure, but may I ask why you didn't opt for the PMDG? Just curious.
June 29, 200619 yr Aerdt, I didn't want to spend almost $70 for an add-on aircraft just to have an -800 model. Keep in mind that I have bought numerous payware addon's.I like Kevin's v2.2 immensely. And with the right freeware add-on's to the Kittyhawk bird, I have a wonderful time flying it. My current Delta 737-800 is made up of the Kittyhawk 737-800, New Mike Baumann FDE, SkyDecks 737NG panel, CFM-56 sound package, and flightdeck sound package. I just can't justify the price of the PMDG bird, although I can easily afford it. But that's another topic for another day. Blake
June 29, 200619 yr Author True, you got a point. I forgot that I spent all that money on the PMDG *shrug*. It is still my favorite add-on and in combination with FS2Crew just adds a whole other sense of realism into my experience. I guess now it is probably just better to hold off with any FS9 purchases with FSX around the corner.
June 29, 200619 yr I hear ya Aerdt,FS9 will remain on my system well into next year as I'll wait to do a whole computer upgrade in late 2007 (also waiting for Oleg Maddox's Battle of Britain). So my FS9 has a lot more life left in it. From what I've been reading, users with similar and in some instances better hardware are also having serious frame rate hits. Blake
June 29, 200619 yr FYIYou can by the PMDG 800/900 as a standalone boxed product from Aerosoft for around $40Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
June 30, 200619 yr I'll look into this a bit more when I get finished with my big plans next week. We'll see about squeezing some more performance out of the product... but as it is I get around 16-18 FPS at KSEA and still runs good for me. Stay tuned at the other forum.
July 1, 200619 yr Yes, unlike the last version, the panel is pretty rough on FPS for me as well and load times are longer than any other product I have every purchased.Nonetheless, it does look great. July 1, 200619 yr Wow, it looks really good. :) Unfortunately I don't have a credit card - how then could i purchase it?
