How to start the APU Tinmouse II

Featured Replies

Where can I find something to read about how to start the APU on the Tinmouse II panel. I have serched for an document exsplaning the procedure but I have failed to find any such.As far as I can se the APU starter is on the lights panel but I cant

hmmmcheck your Bat is on and the DC switch is BAT ON BUS

Gustavo Rodrigues - Brazil

Yes, bat is on and Dc switch is bat on bus. No start of the APUThomasESNN

Please describe how you are trying to start the APU, and how you have determined that the APU is not running. With the bat switch on, it should take a couple clicks on the lower side of the switch (from off to on to start), and you should then see amber APU %RPM figures to the left of the switch through the start cycle. If the master-caution "sixpack" switch APU indication is on, it indicates you aborted a start cycle abnormally.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Bob, I noticed that with squawkbox the transponder switch is reversed. When the switch is on, the transponder is off, if the switch is off, it is on.-Scott

The SB3 offset uses a value of 1 for OFF, 0 for NORMAL. Go figure.Already fixed, will be in the first update.ThanksBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Bob, no joy with the APU here either. When I hit the switch on the lights panel, the switch moves to the START position then pops back to ON. I can do this multiple times but there are no orange numbers for the start as in V1 of the panel. I have tried it off of the battery and with ground power established but without sucess. The only way that I can start the aircraft at this point is to use the old CTRL+E which seems a terrible waste to me.I questioned if this might be one of those aircraft that needed a default A/C loaded first and tried that; the result of that was the 732 bouncing all over the world as though it was in slew mode, so that wasn't it.Would you please detail the start procedure for the APU since I am sure I am missing something. Thanks,Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/Banners/DEV.jpg

Fantastic airplane, but a few issues:1. The APU thing. The APU won't start. Only way to do a proper startup is to start default Cessna, turn it off but keep the alternator, battery, and avionics switches on then switch to the TM2. This will make sure the APU is on. The APU won't start up on battery power alone, but it will start up using the engine generators.2. Aircraft starts out with a huge amount of fuel. I've had the 737 start up with tens of thousands of pounds of more fuel than are supposed to be in the tanks and it causes the plane to flip over and crash on startup. I solved this by setting the fuel in the Cessna 50% in each tank before switching to the 737. 3. Aircraft launches into the air coming out of slew mode. Don't even know why this bug still exists, but going into slew mode then going out it turns the engines on and launches the airplane at a couple hundred knots.4. Trim is extremely sensitive. Not really a bug, but it is very annoying. The trim is IMHO way too sensitive.5. COM2 is really hard to tune. I can't figure this thing out. I can't find the spot that changes the hundrendths digit and the knob under each window tunes the opposite window which is extremely confusing. I think it also does this on the COM1. 6. Sometimes I hear an external APU sound, sometimes I don't. Don't know why this is. 7. No internal sounds- I don't know if the instrument vibrators and avionics fans are supposed to be making noise, but I don't hear anything in the cockpitOtherwise, an awesome piece of freeware. Thanks for your work Bob, and I hope you take these suggestions and constructive. Again thanks for the great update to a classic, hope to see these issues looked at so it reaches perfection.

Ed; Check the APU EGT on the overhead...may very well be the APU is already running. If you have a blue APU GEN OFF BUS light, it's running already.Otherwise, I'm gonna need more data.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Very nice panel. I didn't have any problems with APU start.I did have one anomoly. Never saw this before so I assume it is panel related. Got an alert dialog window while taxiing out that said:Failed to load XML data format fileCannot have multiple DOCTYPE declarationsI clicked the OK box to get rid of it. Didn't notice any problems but a couple minutes later got a master caution FLT CONT and determined that both electric hydraulic pumps had tripped off. I restarted them and continued uneventfully. scott s..

Scott; I'd be looking at another add-on for that one...the gauges are coded in C and don't use XML databases.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Thanks. I was afraid maybe something in the background was the cause. But I assumed there was XML in your gauge or maybe the CIVA gauge.scott s..

Ed; I think I see what's happening. There are some lingering references in the APU start routine to the default electrical system...I have written a completely independent elec system, but tracking all the connections through 20000+ lines of code is a challenge.Until the patch is out, make sure you load a default a/c with the batt switch turned on first.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Hi Bob. As you suggested, I loaded the default Cessna, started the engine, shut down and changed to the 737-200. APU still did not start so I resorted to the old, dirty way of starting up with CTRL +E and then configured the electrics, hydraulics, and packs, etc once the mains were running. Intersting as an aside, once the mains are running, I can start the APU normally, maybe that's a clue.I finally did get a chance to fly this bird from KGSO to KCLT and I do have to tell you that it is a pleasure to fly. I still have some learning to do with various and sundry systems, but nice, nice bird..a real contribution. Thank you, Sir, very much.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/Banners/DEV.jpg
