Effects Folder----Structure Question

Featured Replies

In my ver 4 "Effects" Folder I have a subfolder called "effects"....it has many ".fx" files....the main "Effects" folder has many

additional ".fx" files in it that are not in the "effects" subfolder, or any subfolder at all....should those ".fx" files be in

the "effects" subfolder?...

Any help appreciated...

John H.

In my "Effects" folder, the only other folder is the "texture" folder, full of .bmp, plus one or two OrbX .fx files and a TFDi file.

Rest is in the root of "Effects".

Something installed an effects folder as a subfolder to effects?  Ugh.  Can you figure out what addon did that?  Ideally you would get help from that developer.

Effects folders can end up anywhere if the installer also provides an addon component for effects in the respective add-on.xml file.  However, and effects subfolder under effects sounds wrong.

I'm not sure if this is the case with your software... but some developers will create a sub-folder for effects files.  This is sometimes done to avoid accidentally using the same name for an existing effect.  The developers software will call the effects from what ever location they linked them to, so this is fine.

Thanks for all the replies...I think

Dave has "hit the nail on the head"...the

subfolder "effects" has many fewer files than

are in the root of the "Effects" folder...

I think we can consider this topic "solved"...
