Expansions

Featured Replies

I've recently enjoyed flying some of the complex sims from PMDG, Captain Sim, FSLabs, etc. and I was curious if most of you buy the expansions for those craft or stick with just the base package. Do the expansions add enough to justify the extra money, or would you rather buy an extra airport?

Thanks for the input!

To me expansion purchase would depend on whether or not I thought plane was the hottest ride in town, it would have to be the "cats' meow" in my hanger.

Please don’t put Captain Sim in the same category as PMDG and FSLabs. Just kidding.  Well kind of kidding

I don't have any expansions. I'm usually okay with the base package. I don't have anything from Captain Sim so I can't say for them but I do have all of the base PMDG offerings. I find that the 737 800/900 are too similar compared to the 600/700 to warrant additional spending. As well as the 777, I don't need the slight differences to justify purchasing the expansion. With that said, I do want the 748 when it is released. There seems to be a lot more tech that has been added to that aircraft over the base model.. and it's a 747 so yeah I want it.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

I purchased the 600/700 expansion for the 737NGX because they were the two versions of the 737 that I wanted the most. The approach and landing speeds of those two are significantly lower than the 800/900, so they are more comfortable to operate from airports with shorter runways. In addition, I always find it quite difficult to get the speed of the 900 to stabilise when I disengage the autopilot at 1000 feet. Sometimes it increases by 5 or 6 knots, and sometimes it decreases by almost the same margin!
