August 31, 20187 yr Ideal Flight, yes, I did find that one but I didn't know it contained a professional tool for AM testing also...? I'll check it out a bit more, thanks. Edited August 31, 20187 yr by Guest
September 2, 20187 yr Commercial Member People keep the best things to themselves! 😉 Remember that we can't improve fps - we can only prevent loss of fps through poor configuration and overwhelming settings. Instead it is the interleaving of the background process with the fps generation that is the cause of problems, stutter and low fps. When I see that problems of poor fps are helped by users attempting to reduce FFTF on their system -this shows simply that the linkage between the background process and the fps generation is flawed. And that's generally because it's been given too much to do - pure and simple. I've shown graphs clearly demonstrating the effects of FFTF - I've not seen that demonstrated acceptably anywhere else before or since so proves the tools are now available, if one knows how to use them, and have been for some time. We measure the capability of the hardware with respect to D3D performance by understanding how D3D works to load objects and textures during the set-up the scene. This is the baseline for performance within the simulator. Using a tool that guarantees repeatability within the sim does not guarantee repeatability within Windows, since any stuff might be rumbling along in the background on a regular PC. I'll repeat for anyone that missed it - It's easiest, and far more precise to measure the sim as it starts up and automatically progresses un-paused along a path of flight, that can be can be a stationary flight - as in parked at the gate. So these are short tests of a few minutes. If your sim can't load the scene quickly you'll be looking for that FFTF 0.001 value and ultimately that's not the resolution.
