October 10, 20187 yr Just interested in whether anyone is flying a sim hurricane hunter with live weather from any of the sim based weather engines, and if so, what was your experience? Screenshots? October 10, 20187 yr AFAIK, Active Sky is the only engine to simulate tropical systems. Others would rely on reporting stations....I have been dying to take the P3D C-130 up for some "hunting" but just haven't found the time recently... I fly an annual trek down to the Caribbean each year and have had excellent results from FSGRW, closely matching the real weather based forecasts at Fltplan.com and live weather radar images. But I have never tried flying into a region during a hurricane. Still would like to hear from anyone who has. Might be a good mission challenge. October 12, 20187 yr fp pilot: I used AS16, winds were ferocious in the hurricane, but popping out into the eye, the windspeed was an eerie 0 knts... I flew around the eye's perimeter than back to base. I tried to take off in the trike on Puerto Rico as the hurricane raged, just to test AS16. I didn't get chance to start the motor, the winds picked up the trike and carriied it up to 2000m. Test successful :0 - Paul Elliott http://www.avsim.com/topic/450607-amy-johnson-london-to-australia-attempt/
