August 22, 200619 yr I run FS2004 with Active Camera and fly exclusively from the VC. Although my frame rates are high enough (averaging 50-60) with slider settings on the high side, I still get quite severe stutters when turning - even on the default flight. If I take-off at KSEA and turn right over the airport building I get stutters even though the frame rate is high. It also happens over terrain where there are no airports. I know the effect of stuttering is exaggerated in the VC with Active Camera and Head Latency set to ON but I don't think I should be getting stuttering this badly, if at all.My question is - is this to be expected with a system such as mine? If so, what should I possibly upgrade? If not, what should I tweak?ThanksDave Intel I7-4770 3.4Ghz 16 Gb RAM nVidia GTX770 2Gb Windows 8.1 64 bit P3D 4.4/3.4 FSX SE
August 22, 200619 yr Limit your FPS to say 30-40. See if you still get such stutters. It's a usual cause of stutter if unlimited...
August 23, 200619 yr IMHO, consider yourself lucky. I have a similar system, yet I can't pull a consistent 20 climbing out thru any moderate/heavier clouds (VC all the time). I have tweaked 'till I can tweak no more....and am to the point of (god forbid) giving up simming if FSX performance is to be the same. My problems started when I added a Dell 2405 a few weeks ago, something I very much anticipated, but in retrospect, would have been better served by spending on more RW flight training. The monitor is great, but the sim performance has about tanked and I feel my system should be up to the task.I have tried various clouds packs, lowering sliders, FS-CFG changes, new drivers, various video card settings, disabling monitor usb/card reader, uninstalling monitor driver, etc, etc. I fly with no add-ons and used to fly dual 19's @ 1280x1024 with most sliders maxed and very few stutters. In my own eperience if I cap the FR's lower (mine is @ 20) then I don't get the wide variance, which to me, causes the stutters. I try to stay within 5-10% of what I can actually do, unfortunately now I can't go any lower. See if capping @ 20 helps in your situation. Anyway, not to trying to swipe your thread with my issues......I wish you luck! and post back with your progress. As this is my first post after lurking for a while, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Avsim and all fellow simmers for sharing their knowledge and talents over the past several years. Discovering this vast community was a great surprise and has been been a godsend for my hobby. Thanks, KendallDell 8400 - 3.2Ghz Hyper-thread800 Mhz FSB80GB SATAX800xt 256mb Pci-E/5.12 driversIntegrated soundDell 2405/1905FP dual monitorsCH Yoke/Pedals Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. I turned off Head Latency and the stutters were greatly reduced, Now I only get them when scenery loads in heavy dense areas, (as expected) Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
August 23, 200619 yr Hi,Patch your FS04 and Active Camera, defrag your HD often, and lock your FPS as suggested!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
August 23, 200619 yr All great advice to which I can only add if you have "Global MaxTexture Size" set to Massive, set it about half way. I doubt you'llnotice any visual difference...and it sure helped me out. Denny Retired Professional Tourist
August 23, 200619 yr any idea what ai you have running? i have ALL ProjectAI traffic installed which gives great realism. Found when at london heathrow recently i had major stutters, changed the AI % to 30 and found no diffence - i then renamed the original FS Traffic.bgl and turned off the GA ai and now get 12FPS at heathrow which for me is great but not if you like your GA traffic.
September 12, 200619 yr I did somthing that I did not want to do, but I did any way. As follows. I Installed a new BFG 6800 GT OC ddr3 256mb video card and I still had the same problems that you are talking about. I found that the fs9 main cfg file still had listed my old video card and did not update it at all. Located in Main C: > program files > Documents and settings > owner > Applications > Microsoft > fs9 > fs9cfg under hidden files and folders. So I decided to completly remove fs9 and all of it folders completly. But first I backed up all of my needed files such as aircrat, modules, effects, gauges, and main sounds to another directory. Then dumped fs9 all of it. Then I reinstalled it after a restart and I copied and pasted my aircraft, effects, gauges, and sounds back into fs9's main folder. Do not copy and past the modules folder back as a whole. Just the needed files such as recorder, fsuipc, oldsound or what ever else you may need. But do not allow the old default modules back into the new folder. Also do not forget to reinstall fs9.1 update just after a reinstall, then put back your backed up folders. Then follow up with a defrag of your hard drive or (raid) drives weather it needs it or not just do it anyway. Guess what happened I now have a silk running smooth flightsim with absolutly no herky jerkys at all not even on turns over populated areas. 40fps constant with a lock at 41fps all sliders to the right and detail maxed out exept mipmaps at 4. All of the files were updated to match the new video card and that is all there is to it!!I hope this helps all of you out that have spent so much $$ and time in this hobby as I have. So grab the blue the way it was ment to be seen. Happy Flying.:-bluegrab
September 12, 200619 yr It is the upper FPS. You need to limit it to 25 or something max. It was confirmd by the author of the Active Camera (Sheesh.. I forget his name).Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
